Physical Therapist Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a physical therapist job in Houston?
Focus your search on the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world, where hospital systems, rehabilitation centers, and specialty clinics cluster densely. Outpatient orthopedic and sports rehab practices in Memorial City and the Heights also hire consistently. Candidates with experience in neuro or pediatric rehab stand out locally, and completing clinical rotations at Houston-area facilities strengthens your network before you apply.
Which companies hire physical therapists in Houston?
Employers hiring physical therapists in Houston right now include Memorial Hermann Health System, Houston Methodist, and Select Physical Therapy, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Houston's market includes a mix of large hospital systems anchored in the Texas Medical Center, national outpatient clinic chains, and independent private practices serving the city's sprawling suburbs.
Are there remote physical therapist jobs in Houston?
Yes, but remote work is rare for physical therapists given the hands-on nature of patient care. About 4% of physical therapist openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to be in telehealth triage, documentation review, or clinical management rather than direct patient treatment.
How can I get a physical therapist job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is securing a clinical affiliation or new-graduate residency at one of the Texas Medical Center's major rehab programs before your license is finalized. Home health agencies and long-term care facilities in the Greater Houston area hire new graduates more readily than competitive hospital inpatient units. Applying for physical therapist assistant roles or rehab tech positions first can also open the door to full PT opportunities within the same organization.
Which industries hire the most physical therapists in Houston?
Most physical therapist openings in Houston sit in Healthcare & Medical Services, Insurance, and Non-Profit & Social Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Houston's massive healthcare infrastructure, anchored by the Texas Medical Center and a growing network of outpatient and home health providers serving a large metro population, drives consistent demand across those sectors.
