Physical Therapist Jobs in San Antonio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a physical therapist job in San Antonio?
Focus your search on the South Texas Medical Center, which anchors the highest concentration of hospital and rehab positions in the city, then target the growing outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine clinics in Stone Oak and the Far North Side. Home health agencies throughout the metro also hire consistently. Candidates with experience in geriatric or neuro rehab stand out, given San Antonio's large military veteran and retiree population.
Which companies hire physical therapists in San Antonio?
San Antonio physical therapist roles are posted by University Health, Tenet Healthcare, and Methodist Healthcare System and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local market includes major hospital systems, independent outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, and military-affiliated healthcare providers serving the large active-duty and veteran community.
Are there remote physical therapist jobs in San Antonio?
Yes, though remote work is limited for hands-on clinical roles and more available for documentation, telehealth follow-up, and case management functions. About 4% of physical therapist openings tied to San Antonio are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with telehealth PT consultations being the most common remote arrangement for San Antonio-based employers.
How can I get a physical therapist job in San Antonio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is targeting PRN and per-diem openings at San Antonio's long-term care and skilled nursing facilities, which tend to be more open to new graduates than hospital systems. Physical therapist aide and rehab technician roles at outpatient clinics in the Stone Oak and Alamo Ranch areas also provide a foot in the door, and many local outpatient groups convert strong aides into full PT staff after licensure.
Which industries hire the most physical therapists in San Antonio?
San Antonio physical therapist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. San Antonio's dense military presence, large retiree population, and the South Texas Medical Center make healthcare and rehabilitation services the dominant drivers of local PT hiring.
