About Us
The Grace Place Preschool is a warm, family centered program serving children from toddler age through VPK, along with an aftercare program for local schools. Faith is part of our everyday rhythm, with Bible time each morning that uses music, stories, hand motions, and scripture memory. Our VPK program has earned four gold stars, Above Expectations, from the Early Learning Coalition for two years in a row. We are looking for a caring, organized leader to join our team and help us keep growing.
About the Role
The Assistant Director works side-by-side with the Director to keep our preschool and aftercare programs running smoothly. You will support teachers and counselors, welcome families, and step in as the leader on site when the Director is away. This is a great fit for someone who loves being in the classroom and is ready to grow into school leadership.
Responsibilities
- Support the Director with daily operations of the preschool and aftercare programs
- Serve as the person in charge when the Director is out
- Coach, encourage, and support teachers, teacher’s aides, and aftercare staff, including help with coverage and staff schedules
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training new staff
- Help maintain compliance with Florida DCF licensing standards, ACSI licensing, and VPK requirements for both the preschool and aftercare programs, including attendance records and Early Learning Coalition reporting
- Oversee aftercare daily routines, including arrival and dismissal, sign in and sign out, attendance, and safe supervision of children from our partner schools
- Keep child files, staff files, aftercare forms, and required documentation accurate and up-to-date
- Communicate with parents in a warm, clear, and professional way, including tours, enrollment, and questions or concerns for both programs
- Help manage enrollment, registration forms, and billing questions with the office team
- Support lesson planning and make sure classrooms and aftercare spaces are safe, clean, and engaging
- Help with incident reports, safety drills, and health and safety procedures
- Fill in as a classroom or aftercare teacher when needed
- Join in our Christian mission and help model it for children, families, and staff
Qualifications
- Experience working in a licensed childcare center or preschool, with at least 2 or more years in a classroom
- Experience using Procare is a plus
- Prior experience leading or supervising staff preferred
- Experience with school age or aftercare programs preferred
- Florida DCF 40 Hour Introductory Childcare Training
- Florida Child Care Facility Director Credential preferred, or willingness to earn it
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it
- Ability to pass Level 2 background screening and meet all DCF requirements
- Strong communication, organization, and problem solving skills
- Comfort using email, Word, and basic online systems
- A warm, patient, and professional presence with children, parents, and coworkers
