Job Description
Responsible for coordinating and enabling product engineering activities across the Medical Device portfolio within CooperSurgical. This role ensures structured intake, prioritization, and execution of engineering workstreams, supporting both sustaining engineering and new product initiatives. Serves as a central coordination point across Product Engineering, R&D, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Operations, and Program Management to ensure alignment, visibility, and timely delivery of engineering changes and initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Project Intake & Demand Management
- Own and manage the centralized intake process for all Product Engineering requests, including sustaining issues, cost improvement opportunities, and new initiatives
- Ensure all requests are properly defined, documented, and aligned with strategic priorities before entering the pipeline
- Maintain visibility of incoming demand and capacity considerations
- Prioritization & Governance
- Facilitate regular prioritization meetings with cross-functional stakeholders (Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Marketing)
- Drive alignment on priorities based on business impact, risk, regulatory requirements, and resource availability

Maintain and communicate a clear, up-to-date prioritized backlog of engineering work

ECN (Engineering Change Notice) Coordination
- Coordinate the end-to-end ECN process, ensuring timely progression from initiation through approval, implementation, and closure
- Partner with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure compliance with applicable standards and internal processes

Track status, identify bottlenecks, and drive resolution to meet target timelines

Execution & Outcome Management
- Monitor progress of engineering projects and initiatives, ensuring milestones, deliverables, and timelines are met
- Drive accountability across cross-functional teams to ensure commitments are delivered

Identify risks, escalate issues, and facilitate problem-solving to keep initiatives on track

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as a liaison between Product Engineering and partner functions to ensure clear communication and alignment
- Support coordination of activities related to NPI, sustaining engineering, and product improvements

Facilitate effective information flow between global teams and stakeholders

Process Improvement
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve processes for project intake, prioritization, and ECN management
- Drive standardization of tools, templates, and reporting mechanisms

Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, transparency, and predictability in engineering execution

Reporting & Communication
- Provide regular updates on portfolio status, including key metrics, risks, and progress against priorities
- Prepare dashboards and reports for leadership review
- Ensure stakeholders have clear visibility into workload, timelines, and outcomes
Travel: Up to 10% travel, primarily domestic, for site coordination, workshops, and team alignment
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of product lifecycle management and engineering processes within regulated environments
- Familiarity with Engineering Change Notice (ECN/ECO) processes and documentation requirements
- Excellent organizational and project coordination skills with attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and workstreams in a fast-paced environment
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Effective facilitation skills for meetings, prioritization sessions, and decision-making forums
- Experience with project tracking tools (e.g., Smartsheet, PLM systems)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with occasional interaction with laboratory and manufacturing environments
- Prolonged periods of computer use and coordination across global teams
- Minimal physical demands; occasional movement between office, lab, and production areas
Experience:
- Experience in product engineering, program coordination, or project management within medical devices or regulated industries
- Proven experience coordinating cross-functional projects or engineering workflows
- Experience managing intake, prioritization, or change control processes preferred
Education:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in related discipline
