Job Description:
Manager, Data Product Engineering – Enterprise Finance (OneStream, Tax, Treasury & Financial Reporting)
Collaborate with Innovative 3Mers Around the World
Choosing where to start and grow your career has a major impact on your professional and personal life, so it's equally important you know that the company that you choose to work at, and its leaders, will support and guide you. With a wide variety of people, global locations, technologies and products, 3M is a place where you can collaborate with other curious, creative 3Mers.
This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career.
The Impact You'll Make in this Role
This is a delivery leadership role — not a hands-on engineering position. As Manager, Data Product Engineering, you will build and lead a high-performing data engineering team, manage cross-functional stakeholder relationships, and drive execution across 3M's Enterprise Finance data product portfolio. Your team delivers the data integration and transformation layer that moves financial data from 19+ ERP source systems through the AWS Lakehouse into the applications that Finance, Tax, and Treasury depend on. The immediate priority is the OneStream Lakehouse integration — a highly visible, close-critical program supporting 3M's financial close across 14 countries — and the role also owns the delivery roadmap for the broader Finance domain, including Tax data modernization, Treasury analytics, and downstream financial reporting.
As a Manager, Data Product Engineering, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Building, leading, and developing a team of data engineers — setting clear goals, removing blockers, coaching for growth, and creating accountability so the team runs well even when you are not in the room
- Owning the delivery plan and execution cadence for the OneStream Lakehouse integration (19+ ERP source systems, phased tranches, validated and deployed to production) — managing scope, schedule, risk, and dependencies, and escalating early
- Partnering directly with Finance Transformation, the Finance CPO, and Tax/Treasury leadership to align on requirements and priorities, and representing Data Engineering in Recovery Plan meetings, SteerCo updates, and Finance portfolio reviews
- Delivering data products across the broader Finance portfolio — financial consolidation, Tax data modernization, Treasury analytics, and financial reporting — while supporting adjacent programs as portfolio priorities evolve
- Ensuring the team delivers SOX-compliant, audit-ready data products for close-critical financial systems, driving the DQ Validation Framework, and owning risk identification and mitigation across your delivery portfolio
Your Skills and Expertise:
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a Technology field (completed and verified prior to start)
- Five (5) years of experience in data engineering or data product delivery, with increasing levels of responsibility, in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Technical fluency in cloud-based data platforms (AWS preferred), Lakehouse/Medallion architectures, and modern data engineering tools — enough to make informed decisions, review your team's work, and speak credibly to architects and engineers
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional delivery, coordinating across engineering, business, and vendor teams (e.g., Accenture, Finit) to ship on time
- Strong communication skills — able to run a meeting, write an executive status update, and have a hard conversation with a stakeholder
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or informally leading engineers (formal people management experience not required)
- Background in financial data, ERP integration (SAP HANA, SAP BW, S/4HANA), or close-critical data systems, with an understanding of SOX compliance and financial close processes
- Exposure to Databricks, Snowflake, and/or Apache Iceberg in an enterprise environment; relevant AWS, Databricks, or Snowflake certifications are a plus
- Bias for action and execution — you move things forward and don't wait to be told
Work location:
- This role has an on-site working model, with the employee working at least four days a week in the office at 3M Center, located in Maplewood, MN. Travel:
May include up to 10% domestic
Relocation Assistance: Is not authorized
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Product Operations Manager Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a product operations manager in Minnesota?
Most product operations manager roles in Minnesota require a bachelor's degree in business administration, operations, or a related field, and no state-issued license applies to this role. Minnesota employers, particularly in the medical technology and financial services sectors, strongly favor candidates with prior experience in program coordination, business analysis, or operations. Certifications such as PMP or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt are common differentiators in competitive Twin Cities postings.
Which companies hire product operations managers in Minnesota?
Minnesota product operations manager roles are posted by lululemon, 3M, and Optum and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Minnesota's deep concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and medical device manufacturers means product operations roles here tend to require cross-functional experience across regulated industries.
Which Minnesota cities have the most product operations manager jobs?
Minneapolis, Marshall, and Shakopee have the most product operations manager openings in Minnesota. The Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro drives the bulk of demand because it is home to a dense cluster of corporate headquarters, medical technology firms, and financial services companies, while Rochester's market is shaped by large healthcare institutions and their supplier networks.
Are there remote product operations manager jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, and more than many fields. Product operations management is largely a desk and coordination role, making it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 100% of product operations manager openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broad employer flexibility in this function. Strategic planning, data reporting, and cross-functional program work are the tasks most commonly performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a product operations manager in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from an adjacent role such as business analyst, project coordinator, or operations associate, which are common feeder positions at large Minnesota employers including Medtronic, 3M, and Ameriprise Financial. Many of these organizations run structured associate or rotational programs that place early-career candidates across product and operations functions. Building proficiency with project management tools and earning a PMP or Lean Six Sigma certification strengthens a Minnesota application considerably.
Where can I find and apply to product operations manager jobs in Minnesota?
