Production Engineering Manager Jobs in Nebraska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a production engineering manager in Nebraska?
The typical path is a bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering followed by several years in production or process engineering roles before moving into management. Nebraska does not require a state-issued license specifically for production engineering managers, though engineers who sign off on public-safety designs may pursue licensure through the Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects. Most employers in Nebraska's food processing and manufacturing sectors prioritize hands-on plant experience and leadership credentials such as a Six Sigma Black Belt or Professional Engineer designation.
How much do production engineering managers make in Nebraska?
Production engineering managers in Nebraska earn a median of about $141,020 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $103,070 for the lowest 10% to over $222,240 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire production engineering managers in Nebraska?
Nebraska production engineering manager roles are posted by Great Dane, Tenneco, and Martin Marietta and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nebraska's concentration of large-scale food processing plants, agricultural equipment manufacturers, and industrial distribution facilities means openings appear consistently across the state year-round.
Which Nebraska cities have the most production engineering manager jobs?
Omaha, Lincoln, and Waverly account for the largest share of production engineering manager openings in Nebraska. Omaha drives the most volume as the state's largest metro with a broad manufacturing and distribution base, while Lincoln's industrial corridor and Grand Island's dense concentration of food processing and agricultural equipment facilities contribute steady demand in those markets.
Are there remote production engineering manager jobs in Nebraska?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of production engineering manager openings tied to Nebraska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting that the role is fundamentally plant-floor work requiring direct oversight of equipment, personnel, and production lines. The portions of the role most amenable to remote work are project planning, vendor coordination, and reporting responsibilities.
How can I get hired as a production engineering manager in Nebraska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a production engineer or process engineer role at one of Nebraska's large manufacturing employers, then building toward management over time. JBS USA, Valmont Industries, and similar large Nebraska operations run rotational or development programs that place early-career engineers across plant functions. Earning a Professional Engineer license through the Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects or completing a Six Sigma Green Belt certification strengthens a promotion case. Lateral moves from quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, or continuous improvement analyst roles are common stepping stones.
