Production Technician Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a production technician in New Jersey?
Most production technician roles in New Jersey do not require a state-issued license, but the dominant industries, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, expect candidates to hold at minimum an associate degree in a technical or life sciences field and to understand GMP regulations. Employers in the Trenton and Edison corridors routinely hire graduates of community college programs in manufacturing technology or chemical technology, particularly from institutions like Mercer County Community College and Middlesex College.
Which companies hire production technicians in New Jersey?
Employers hiring production technicians in New Jersey right now include QuVa Pharma, Howmet Aerospace, and BD, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New Jersey's concentration of pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers means that life sciences companies account for a large share of these openings across the state.
Which New Jersey cities have the most production technician jobs?
The cities with the most production technician openings in New Jersey are Dover, Somerset, and Bloomsbury. The distribution reflects New Jersey's pharmaceutical and medical device corridor, where large manufacturers and their contract partners cluster around the I-287 and I-95 beltways, pulling most of the volume toward central and northern New Jersey.
Are there remote production technician jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, but they're rare. Production technician work is hands-on by nature, requiring physical presence on the manufacturing floor to operate equipment, complete batch records, and maintain cleanroom conditions. About 20% of production technician openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to be documentation-heavy or validation-support roles rather than core production positions.
How can I get hired as a production technician in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a two-year manufacturing technology or chemical technology program at a New Jersey community college, then applying to the operator trainee or production associate programs that pharmaceutical companies in the Edison and Parsippany areas run for candidates without direct experience. Employers like Becton Dickinson and contract manufacturers throughout Middlesex and Morris counties regularly hire entry-level candidates who can demonstrate GMP awareness, attention to documentation, and a willingness to work rotating shifts.
Where can I find and apply to production technician jobs in New Jersey?
