Program Manager Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a program manager in Colorado?
Most program manager roles in Colorado require a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a technical field, combined with demonstrated leadership experience. Colorado does not issue a state license for program managers, but the PMP certification from the Project Management Institute is the most widely recognized credential among Colorado employers, particularly in defense and technology. Many hiring managers also look for Agile or SAFe certifications for roles in software and IT program delivery.
Which companies hire program managers in Colorado?
Companies currently hiring program managers in Colorado include Lockheed Martin, EchoStar, and Odyssey Consulting, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Colorado's concentration of aerospace, defense, and federal contracting firms means large systems integrators and government prime contractors are consistently among the most active program manager employers in the state.
Which Colorado cities have the most program manager jobs?
Denver, Colorado Springs, and Englewood have the most program manager openings in Colorado. Denver drives the largest share through its headquarters density and tech sector, Colorado Springs draws heavily from the military and defense contracting installations surrounding Fort Carson and Peterson Space Force Base, and Boulder's research and software industry anchors a steady stream of IT and product program management roles.
Are there remote program manager jobs in Colorado?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 74% of program manager openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves coordination, reporting, and stakeholder communication that can be done off-site. The roles most likely to be fully remote are IT program management and software delivery, while defense and government contract roles typically require on-site presence due to security requirements.
How can I get hired as a program manager in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a project coordinator, business analyst, or team lead role, which Colorado tech and defense employers commonly treat as feeder positions into program management. Large Colorado employers such as Lockheed Martin and Leidos run associate or rotational development programs for recent graduates. Earning a CAPM certification and building experience with Jira or Smartsheet significantly strengthens a candidate's profile, as does any familiarity with government contracting processes common to the Front Range market.
Where can I find and apply to program manager jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to program manager jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current Colorado openings across industries and experience levels. Search roles by location or specialty, find the ones that match your background, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
