Program Manager Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a program manager in Delaware?
Becoming a program manager in Delaware starts with a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, information technology, or a related field. Delaware does not require a state-issued license for the role, but employers consistently favor candidates who hold the Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute. Most Delaware hiring paths also expect several years of project or program coordination experience before a full program manager title is offered.
Which companies hire program managers in Delaware?
Employers hiring program managers in Delaware right now include JPMorganChase, State of Delaware, and Bayhealth, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's concentration of financial institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and state government contractors means program managers with backgrounds in regulated industries or enterprise IT tend to find the widest range of active openings.
Which Delaware cities have the most program manager jobs?
Wilmington, Dover, and Newark account for the largest share of program manager openings in Delaware. Wilmington leads because it is home to major financial and corporate headquarters, while Newark benefits from proximity to the University of Delaware and life sciences employers, and Dover draws demand from state agency programs and defense-adjacent contractors operating near the capital.
Are there remote program manager jobs in Delaware?
Yes, and more than most fields. Program management is largely a coordination and communication role that translates well to distributed work. About 38% of program manager openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly the role has shifted since enterprise teams adopted distributed delivery models. Strategic planning, reporting, and vendor management functions are the most consistently offered as fully remote.
How can I get hired as a program manager in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a project coordinator or PMO analyst role at one of Delaware's large financial institutions or healthcare systems, where structured onboarding programs exist for early-career candidates. Employers like Christiana Care Health System and state agency contractors regularly bring on associates through rotational and training programs. Earning a CAPM certification from the Project Management Institute and building a portfolio of coordinated initiatives, even from volunteer or academic work, gives candidates a measurable edge when applying without direct program management experience.
Where can I find and apply to program manager jobs in Delaware?
You can find and apply to program manager jobs in Delaware on Migrate Mate, which lists current Delaware openings updated regularly. Find roles that match your background and apply directly to the ones that fit.
