Educational Opp & TRIO Program
This position will be located at the Dunwoody GSU Perimeter College Campus
The TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) programs are federally funded by the United States Department of Education. Through specialized services, their goal is to increase the retention and graduation rates of college students who demonstrate academic need and who are either first-generation, and/or low-income, and/or have a documented disability. This goal is based upon the belief that all students, regardless of age, family background, learning style, or presence of a disability, should have equal opportunity to reach their full personal, academic, and career potential.
The Educational Program Specialist is responsible for the provision of services to the TRIO SSS (Student Support Services) participants. Through a holistic approach, this position will advocate for and empower participants toward self-sufficiency by providing needs assessments and offering advisement and guidance in the areas of academic, financial, career, social, and personal development. Responsibilities include advising (academic, career, personal, and financial), assisting in graduate/professional school preparation, conducting workshops, and tracking student records. The Educational Program Specialist should possess excellent communication skills necessary to develop a strong rapport with undergraduate students, faculty, and university staff.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Identify and recruit eligible participants for TRIO SSS Program
- Maintain a caseload of students and meet regularly with students to provide academic, career, social/personal, financial, and transfer/graduate/professional school advisement.
- Develop, plan, and facilitate seminars and workshops for program participants
- Coordinate academic, cultural, and educational services/activities to meet objectives.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of program data required for federal reporting purposes.
- Generate monthly reports and assist Director with annual performance reporting.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Ability to make oral presentations to undergraduate-level students
- Possess experience advising first-generation college students and individuals with disabilities
Physical Requirements:
The position may require local travel between campuses to perform required duties, attend meetings, and other responsibilities.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Requires adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone, and in writing. The job takes place in normal environmental conditions.

Qualifications
Minimum Hiring Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
Master’s degree and two years’ experience counseling low-income academically under-prepared high school or college students in either a postsecondary educational or community-based human service agency.
