Program Supervisor Jobs in Kentucky: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a program supervisor in Kentucky?
Most program supervisor roles in Kentucky require a bachelor's degree in social work, human services, public administration, or a closely related field, with some positions preferring a master's degree. Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor credentials issued through the Kentucky Board of Social Work or the Kentucky Board of Licensed Professional Counselors strengthen candidacy significantly for behavioral health programs. Employers also expect direct service experience before a supervisory appointment.
Which companies hire program supervisors in Kentucky?
Companies currently hiring program supervisors in Kentucky include UPS, Sevita, and ABF Freight, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Kentucky's dense network of regional nonprofits, state cabinet agencies, and federally funded community service organizations generates consistent openings throughout the year.
Which Kentucky cities have the most program supervisor jobs?
Louisville, Covington, and Middlesboro have the most program supervisor openings in Kentucky. Louisville leads because of its concentration of large nonprofit organizations, hospital systems, and state agency regional offices, while Lexington draws openings from university-affiliated programs and behavioral health networks, and Frankfort generates demand as the seat of state government and its cabinet departments.
Are there remote program supervisor jobs in Kentucky?
Yes, but they're relatively uncommon. About 0% of program supervisor openings tied to Kentucky are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting that most roles require on-site oversight of staff, client interactions, or facility-based programs. Administrative, grant management, and policy-focused program supervisor positions are the most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a program supervisor in Kentucky with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a supervisory role from a direct service position such as case manager, program coordinator, or residential counselor at a Kentucky nonprofit or state agency. Organizations like Seven Counties Services, Communicare, and the Kentucky Department for Community Based Services regularly promote internally and hire candidates who demonstrate leadership in frontline roles. Earning a Kentucky social work license or completing a human services certificate while working in an associate role gives candidates a clear edge.
