Project Controls Specialist Jobs in Nevada: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a project controls specialist in Nevada?
Most project controls specialists in Nevada enter the field with a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a business-related discipline, then build hands-on experience on capital projects. Nevada does not issue a state license specific to this role, but employers consistently favor candidates who hold the AACE International Certified Planning and Scheduling Professional credential or the Project Management Institute's PMI-SP. Starting in a cost engineer, scheduler, or project coordinator role at a large Nevada construction or mining firm is the most common path upward.
How much do project controls specialists make in Nevada?
Project controls specialists in Nevada earn a median of about $99,940 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $61,610 for the lowest 10% to over $162,830 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire project controls specialists in Nevada?
Employers hiring project controls specialists in Nevada right now include Big D Companies, Redwood Materials, and Parsons, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Nevada's concentration of large-scale infrastructure, data center, and mining projects means many of these employers are seeking candidates with multi-year capital program experience rather than shorter commercial construction backgrounds.
Which Nevada cities have the most project controls specialist jobs?
The Nevada cities with the most project controls specialist openings are Reno, Nevada, and Elko. Las Vegas and Henderson dominate because of the region's continuous large-scale construction activity across hospitality, data centers, and public infrastructure, while Reno's growth as a logistics and manufacturing hub has steadily attracted project controls roles tied to industrial facility development and utilities expansion.
Are there remote project controls specialist jobs in Nevada?
Yes, but they're rare. Project controls work is largely tied to active job sites, where reviewing physical progress, verifying schedules against field conditions, and coordinating with contractors requires an on-site presence. About 33% of project controls specialist openings tied to Nevada are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, with remote arrangements most common for senior cost-reporting and analytics roles that focus on document management rather than direct site oversight.
How can I get hired as a project controls specialist in Nevada with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a project coordinator or document control role at a Nevada-based construction management or engineering firm, where you gain direct exposure to scheduling and cost tools on live projects. Large employers with recurring Nevada work, such as major engineering and construction firms operating in Las Vegas and Reno, frequently bring on junior schedulers or cost engineers who learn Primavera P6 on the job. Completing an AACE student membership program, building a sample earned value report in your portfolio, and targeting entry roles in Nevada's active data center or public works sectors gives early-career candidates a measurable edge.
Where can I find and apply to project controls specialist jobs in Nevada?
You can find and apply to project controls specialist jobs in Nevada on Migrate Mate, which lists current Nevada openings for this role. Search the listings, find the roles that match your background and target location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
