Project Management Coordinator Jobs in Birmingham: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a project management coordinator job in Birmingham?
Focus on Birmingham's three heaviest-hiring sectors: healthcare systems, commercial construction, and IT services firms clustered downtown and in the Colonnade business corridor. Candidates who earn a CAPM or demonstrate hands-on experience with project tracking tools like Microsoft Project or Smartsheet stand out locally. Tailoring your resume to the specific industry you're targeting, whether hospital operations or infrastructure projects, gives you a concrete edge over generalist applicants.
Which companies hire project management coordinators in Birmingham?
Companies currently hiring project management coordinators in Birmingham include Naphcare, UAB Medicine, and University of Alabama, Birmingham, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Birmingham's mix of large regional health systems, engineering and construction firms, and growing technology services companies makes it a steady market for this role year-round.
Are there remote project management coordinator jobs in Birmingham?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the employer and sector. About 50% of project management coordinator openings tied to Birmingham are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with technology services and software firms offering the most flexibility. Roles tied to construction, manufacturing, or hospital operations typically require on-site presence for coordination and stakeholder meetings.
How can I get a project management coordinator job in Birmingham with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Birmingham is through administrative or operations assistant roles at healthcare systems or construction management firms, which frequently promote internally into coordinator positions. UAB, the city's largest employer, and regional contractors like Brasfield and Gorrie regularly hire entry-level project support staff. Volunteering for project work within your current role, earning a CAPM certification, and building familiarity with scheduling software make candidates competitive without prior coordinator titles.
Which industries hire the most project management coordinators in Birmingham?
Birmingham project management coordinator roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Accounting & Auditing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Birmingham's status as a regional healthcare hub anchored by UAB Medicine, combined with its active commercial construction market and expanding technology services sector, drives consistent demand for coordinators who can manage timelines, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
