Project Site Manager Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a project site manager in Delaware?
Most Delaware employers expect a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or architecture alongside significant field experience. Delaware does not issue a state-specific project site manager license, but many employers require candidates to hold or pursue a Certified Construction Manager credential through the Construction Management Association of America. Building a record of progressively responsible site roles and completing OSHA safety training are the most reliable steps toward a project site manager position in Delaware.
How much do project site managers make in Delaware?
Project site managers in Delaware earn a median of about $132,150 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $95,730 for the lowest 10% to over $209,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire project site managers in Delaware?
Employers hiring project site managers in Delaware right now include Kleinfelder, Schell Brothers, and Amedisys, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's concentration of pharmaceutical, healthcare, and infrastructure projects means large general contractors and facility owners in those sectors drive a significant share of active openings.
Which Delaware cities have the most project site manager jobs?
Wilmington, Newark, and Dover account for the most project site manager openings in Delaware. Wilmington leads because it anchors the state's corporate headquarters corridor and hosts large commercial and healthcare construction projects, while Dover and Newark generate steady demand through state government facility work, University of Delaware campus projects, and suburban commercial development.
Are there remote project site manager jobs in Delaware?
Yes, but they're rare. Project site manager work is fundamentally field-based, requiring physical presence on active construction sites to oversee subcontractors, manage safety compliance, and coordinate daily operations. About 33% of project site manager openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those listings typically involve pre-construction planning, estimating, or program oversight functions rather than active site management.
How can I get hired as a project site manager in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a project engineer or construction coordinator with a general contractor or large owner like Christiana Care or a state facilities management agency. Delaware's healthcare and infrastructure sectors regularly bring on recent graduates through structured field training programs, and lateral moves from estimating, scheduling, or field engineering roles are common. Completing OSHA certification and pursuing a Project Management Professional credential while in an entry role significantly strengthens a candidate's case for a first project site manager appointment.
