QA Manager Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a qa manager in Massachusetts?
Most qa managers in Massachusetts enter the field through a bachelor's degree in engineering, biology, chemistry, or a related discipline, then build experience in quality assurance roles within FDA-regulated industries like pharmaceuticals, medtech, or aerospace. Massachusetts does not require a state-issued license for qa managers, but employers strongly favor credentials such as the ASQ Certified Quality Manager or a Six Sigma Black Belt. Advancing to a management role typically requires several years in quality technician, specialist, or engineer positions at Massachusetts-based manufacturers or biotech firms.
Which companies hire qa managers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring qa managers in Massachusetts right now include Replimune, Redwire Space, and Boston Scientific, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's dense concentration of life sciences companies, defense contractors, and medtech manufacturers means qa manager hiring stays active year-round across the greater Boston corridor and I-495 technology belt.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most qa manager jobs?
The Massachusetts cities with the most qa manager openings are Boston, Waltham, and Marlborough. Boston and Cambridge drive much of the demand through their concentration of biotech, pharmaceutical, and academic medical institutions, while Worcester and the I-495 corridor attract strong hiring from medical device manufacturers and defense contractors that have long maintained operations in central and metrowest Massachusetts.
Are there remote qa manager jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based fields. About 53% of qa manager openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting that many QA functions require on-site presence for facility audits, production floor oversight, and hands-on equipment validation. The portions of the role most compatible with remote work include documentation review, supplier audits conducted by video, and quality system analysis.
How can I get hired as a qa manager in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a quality technician, quality control inspector, or manufacturing associate role at a Massachusetts life sciences or defense manufacturer, then building toward management over time. Large employers such as Thermo Fisher Scientific and Boston Scientific hire quality associates and rotational program participants directly out of college. Earning an ASQ Certified Quality Improvement Associate credential before applying gives candidates a concrete edge, and internships through UMass or Northeastern's cooperative education programs frequently convert to full-time quality roles.
Where can I find and apply to qa manager jobs in Massachusetts?
