Key Responsibilities
- Review purchase orders, supplier quality manuals, engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to identify applicable quality requirements.
- Interpret complex machined-part drawings including GD&T, standard tolerances, thread requirements, material specifications, heat treatment, plating, and customer-specific standards.
- Review manufacturing routings and determine what characteristics should be inspected, at which operation, and by what inspection method.
- Consider dimensional effects of plating, coating, heat treatment, and other downstream processes when establishing inspection requirements.
- Balloon and annotate drawings using High QA or similar software and enter characteristic-level inspection requirements into ProShop or another ERP/QMS system.
- Prepare AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (Forms 1, 2, and 3), production data packages, and related quality documentation.
- Coordinate with Quality, Receiving, Purchasing, and Production to obtain required inspection results, certifications, and quality records.
- Prepare and manage Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and support root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and customer quality issues.
- Support Control Plans, PFMEAs, PPAP documentation, internal audits, customer audits, and AS9100 certification activities.
- Follow established AS9100 Quality Management System requirements and contribute to continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Strong ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and GD&T.
- Practical knowledge of CNC milling, turning, and precision-machining processes.
- Understanding of dimensional inspection methods, inspection equipment, and appropriate gaging methods.
- Experience in manufacturing quality, dimensional inspection, FAI, quality planning, or a closely related role.
- Ability to understand manufacturing routings and determine when features should be inspected during production.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately manage technical and quality documentation.
- Ability to research and interpret customer, industry, and process specifications.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
