Quality Specialist Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a quality specialist in New York?
Most quality specialist roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering, chemistry, biology, or a related discipline. New York does not issue a state license specific to quality specialists, but employers in regulated industries strongly prefer candidates who hold credentials from the American Society for Quality, such as the Certified Quality Auditor or Certified Quality Engineer. Experience with FDA or GMP environments is particularly valued by New York's large pharmaceutical and medical device employers.
How much do quality specialists make in New York?
Quality specialists in New York earn a median of about $49,990 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $37,190 for the lowest 10% to over $77,930 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire quality specialists in New York?
Employers hiring quality specialists in New York right now include NYU Langone Health, Island Peer Review Organization, and Safelite, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's dense concentration of pharmaceutical manufacturers, medical device companies, and food processors means quality specialist demand is consistent across both the metropolitan area and upstate manufacturing corridors.
Which New York cities have the most quality specialist jobs?
New York, Rochester, and Jericho have the most quality specialist openings in New York. New York City leads because of its concentration of pharmaceutical, biotech, and financial compliance operations, while Buffalo and Rochester drive volume through established manufacturing and medical device sectors anchored by large regional employers and university-affiliated research institutions.
Are there remote quality specialist jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Quality specialist work is largely hands-on, involving physical inspections, audits, and lab or production floor oversight that cannot be performed remotely. About 7% of quality specialist openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to be in supplier quality management, document control, or quality systems coordination rather than direct inspection or auditing roles.
How can I get hired as a quality specialist in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for quality technician or quality control associate roles at New York's manufacturing and pharmaceutical facilities, which regularly hire candidates with a technical degree and no direct quality experience. Employers such as large upstate food processors and New York City area biotech companies often run associate or rotational programs for new graduates. Earning an entry-level ASQ credential, such as the Certified Quality Improvement Associate, and gaining hands-on exposure through internships or adjacent roles in production or laboratory operations strengthens a candidate's application considerably.
Where can I find and apply to quality specialist jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to quality specialist jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
