Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) – Pediatric
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) to join our pediatric dental team in Atlanta, Georgia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatric dentistry, excellent clinical assisting skills, and the ability to create a comfortable and reassuring experience for children and their families.
This position is best suited for a dental assistant who can confidently support a variety of pediatric procedures, work efficiently in a busy clinical environment, and provide attentive care to young patients, including children with special needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist dentists with pediatric restorative procedures, including composite fillings, stainless steel crowns, zirconia crowns, pulpotomies, extractions, and space maintainers.
- Support nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation procedures while following applicable monitoring and safety protocols.
- Assist with laser frenectomies and early-intervention orthodontic appointments.
- Perform coronal polishing, dental sealants, and fluoride treatments within the scope of certification and applicable regulations.
- Obtain digital dental radiographs, including bitewings, periapicals, and panoramic images.
- Use age-appropriate behavior guidance techniques to help children feel safe and comfortable during treatment.
- Assist children with special needs while maintaining a patient-centered approach.
- Explain postoperative care and home-care instructions to parents and guardians.
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain infection control procedures in accordance with applicable OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- Maintain accurate clinical notes, patient records, and treatment documentation using dental practice management software.
- Work collaboratively with dentists and team members to maintain an organized and efficient clinical schedule.
Qualifications
- At least two years of pediatric dental assisting experience.
- Current Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) credentials required by the applicable state.
- Required certifications for coronal polishing and pit-and-fissure sealants, as applicable.
- Appropriate training and certification for nitrous oxide monitoring, as required by state regulations.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Demonstrated experience assisting with pediatric restorative procedures, crowns, pulpotomies, extractions, space maintainers, and sedation cases.
- Proficiency in taking digital dental radiographs and supporting children who may feel anxious during treatment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with children, parents, and clinical staff.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced pediatric dental practice.
- Familiarity with electronic dental records and practice management systems; Open Dental experience is preferred.

Compensation
The anticipated pay range for this position is $17.00–$22.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and applicable company policies.
