Description
American Traveler is seeking a PACU/PreOp-Phase II RN with a TX or compact license and at least one year of relevant experience for a hospital-based day shift position.
Details
- Position covers PreOp and Phase II Recovery within a PACU setting, including ambulatory/outpatient and inpatient cases
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Schedule is Monday through Friday, four 10-hour day shifts from 10:30 to 21:00
- Supports a wide range of surgical specialties including cardiac, ortho, neuro, ENT, urology, vascular, and more
- Epic charting system preferred
Requirements
- Active TX state or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum of 1 year of Pre/Post or Phase II PACU experience required
- Three years of experience is highly preferred for first-time travelers, though this unit may be more flexible
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Full 7-year work history required, including any employment gaps
- Recent supervisor reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include pre-op assessment and education, discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and follow-up phone calls
- Performs pre/post care for cath lab, endoscopy, IR, and operative procedures
- Manages IV therapy, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
- Monitors cardiac rhythms and manages dysrhythmias
- Administers pre-op medications and manages PCA pumps and pain assessment
- Utilizes RASS scale and follows malignant hyperthermia protocol
- May be required to wear a mask if not vaccinated for COVID-19
- Must be willing to work 2 of 3 major holidays falling within the contract period
- No RTO permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 14 total RTO days and no more than 7 consecutive days
- First-time travelers may be considered depending on unit flexibility
