Tips for Your Remote Licensed Therapist Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote licensed therapist openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your license type, clinical specialty, and state authorization and apply directly without sorting through unrelated postings.
Document your telehealth platform experience
Remote employers screen resumes for named platforms, such as SimplePractice, Theranest, or your EHR of choice, alongside video conferencing tools. List them explicitly so hiring managers can confirm you're ready to work in their environment from day one.
Show async communication skills in your application
Remote licensed therapist teams coordinate through written case notes, secure messaging, and digital care plans. A clean, thorough writing sample or a well-organized cover letter signals you can maintain clinical documentation quality and team communication without real-time check-ins.
Clarify your multistate license status upfront
Many remote telehealth employers need therapists licensed in specific states or enrolled in a compact. Noting your Counseling Compact or PSYPACT eligibility, or the states where you hold active licenses, removes a key screening question early and moves your application forward faster.
Prepare for a remote clinical interview format
Remote licensed therapist interviews often include a video role-play or a written clinical vignette to assess judgment and communication independent of body language cues. Practice articulating your clinical reasoning clearly in writing and on camera before your first screening call.
Remote Licensed Therapist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote licensed therapist job?
Focus your search on telehealth platforms, employee assistance program providers, and digital behavioral health companies, as these employers build their entire care delivery model around remote therapists. Remote hiring managers screen for strong written documentation habits, comfort with asynchronous communication, and the ability to manage a full caseload without in-person supervision. Highlighting experience with video therapy platforms and electronic health records gives you a clear edge.
Which companies hire remote licensed therapists?
Employers currently hiring remote licensed therapists include Brightside Health, Net Health, and LifeStance Health, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote licensed therapist roles tend to concentrate at telehealth-first companies, employee assistance program administrators, and distributed behavioral health networks that staff licensed clinicians across multiple states.
Can you get a remote licensed therapist job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level licensed therapist roles are harder to land because employers expect you to manage a caseload and triage client needs independently from day one. Telehealth platforms that serve high-volume caseloads sometimes hire newly licensed therapists, and practicum or supervised hours completed via telehealth strengthen a remote application. Demonstrating comfort with video platforms and electronic health records helps close the experience gap.
Do you need a degree for remote licensed therapist jobs?
Usually, yes. Most remote licensed therapist roles require at minimum a master's degree in a clinical field, plus an active state license, because licensure boards set those requirements independent of the employer. What remote employers weigh alongside credentials is your clinical specialty, your telehealth platform experience, and evidence that you can sustain client engagement and documentation quality without in-person oversight.
Which industries hire the most remote licensed therapists?
Remote licensed therapist roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Insurance, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Those sectors rely on distributed care delivery models that require licensed clinicians who can serve clients and coordinate with care teams entirely through digital channels.
