Tips for Your Remote Public Relations Manager Job Search
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote public relations manager openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your background and apply directly without sifting through listings that require on-site work.
Build a portfolio around earned media
Remote employers can't watch you pitch in a newsroom, so your portfolio does the selling. Collect press releases, media placements, campaign briefs, and coverage results you drove, and organize them so a hiring manager can scan your impact in under two minutes.
Show async communication as a core skill
Remote public relations managers handle media relations, executive messaging, and crisis response over Slack, email, and video entirely. In your cover letter and interviews, give concrete examples of how you managed time-sensitive communications across time zones without needing a co-located team.
Position yourself for remote media cycles
Demonstrate that you can monitor news cycles, coordinate with journalists, and move quickly without a physical newsroom. Mention tools you use for media monitoring, spokesperson prep, and real-time coverage tracking, since remote employers want to know their PR function won't slow down without in-office proximity.
Prepare for a remote-first interview process
Remote public relations manager interviews often include a writing exercise or a mock media scenario delivered over video. Practice delivering concise, well-structured responses on camera and have a quiet, professional setup ready, because your on-screen presence signals how you'll represent clients and executives in a distributed environment.
Remote Public Relations Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote public relations manager job?
Target companies that already run distributed communications teams, such as remote-first technology firms, digital media companies, and national nonprofits. Remote employers screen hard for written communication, because most stakeholder work happens over email, Slack, and async briefs rather than in-person meetings. A portfolio showing media placements, press releases, and campaign results you drove independently will separate you from candidates who rely on in-office collaboration.
Which companies hire remote public relations managers?
Companies hiring remote public relations managers right now include Providence, Sangoma, and BairesDev, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote-first technology companies, healthcare organizations with national reach, and consumer brands running distributed marketing teams are the most consistent sources of remote public relations manager openings.
Can you get a remote public relations manager job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level public relations roles are harder to land because employers expect you to manage media relationships and timelines without in-office supervision from day one. Agencies that run remote teams sometimes hire junior public relations coordinators who can grow into manager roles. Showing a writing portfolio, demonstrated media pitching work, and any freelance or internship results you drove independently will open more doors than a resume alone.
Do you need a degree for remote public relations manager jobs?
Not always. Many remote employers list a degree in communications, journalism, or marketing as preferred rather than required. What they weight heavily is a demonstrable history of earned media placements, press coverage you have secured, and campaign results you can point to directly. A strong portfolio and verifiable outcomes can move your application forward even without a traditional four-year degree.
Which industries hire the most remote public relations managers?
Most remote public relations manager openings sit in Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Agriculture & Farming, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Those sectors hire public relations managers remotely because their communications needs are national in scope and their teams are already structured around distributed, async work.
