Regional Operations Director — HVAC & Plumbing Blue Cardinal Operations Remote — Mid-Atlantic Region | Full-Time
About the Opportunity
Blue Cardinal Operations is seeking a Regional Operations Director to lead day-to-day performance across multiple HVAC and Plumbing branches in the Mid-Atlantic region. This is a hands-on operational leadership role for someone who knows how to run high-performing trades operations — driving results through disciplined routines, data-informed decisions, and direct accountability at every level.
If you've led multi-site HVAC or plumbing operations, owned a P&L, and thrive in a fast-moving, acquisition-growth environment, this role was built for you.
Requirements:
What You'll Own
Operational Leadership
- Direct daily operations across assigned HVAC and Plumbing branches in the Mid-Atlantic region
- Maintain a structured weekly operating cadence — reviewing performance, surfacing issues, and driving corrective action
- Serve as the primary escalation point for branch-level operational issues
- Implement and enforce operational policies, safety standards, and compliance requirements (EPA, OSHA, state licensing)
Financial Performance
- Own branch-level P&L accountability across the region
- Monitor revenue, job count, revenue per technician, and cost structure against budget on a weekly basis
- Identify root causes of variance and build corrective action plans with clear ownership and timelines
- Manage operational spending within budget constraints and company guidelines
Install Utilization & Membership Growth
- Track and optimize install slot utilization across all branches
- Drive membership capture rates among non-member service customers and monitor cancellation trends
- Maximize membership-to-install conversion at every location
- Align installer headcount and scheduling to demand forecasts
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop branch-level operations and service managers
- Support technician staffing, onboarding, training, and certification compliance
- Hold managers accountable to clear performance expectations with regular structured feedback
- Partner with HR to proactively identify and address talent gaps
Technology & Reporting
- Leverage ServiceTitan (or comparable FSM platform) to drive operational decisions — not just reporting
- Deliver structured weekly performance reporting with context, root cause, and recommended actions
- Ensure branch teams are operating the platform with fidelity and maintaining data integrity
M&A Integration
- Support operational onboarding and integration of acquired brands into the company's operating platform
- Ensure newly integrated locations adopt standard processes, technology, and performance benchmarks within defined timelines
- Flag integration risks early and escalate when locations are underperforming post-integration
What We're Looking For
Experience
- 7–10+ years of operational leadership in HVAC, Plumbing, Mechanical Services, or related trades
- Multi-site or multi-brand operations management experience strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience with ServiceTitan or a comparable field service management platform required
- Experience in a private equity-backed or acquisition-growth environment a plus
- Familiarity with the Mid-Atlantic market (DC, MD, VA, DE, PA, NJ) preferred
Skills
- Deep understanding of HVAC and Plumbing field operations — service, installation, dispatch, and warehouse
- Strong financial acumen — comfortable owning and driving performance against a P&L
- Data-driven decision-maker who translates metrics into operational action
- Knowledge of EPA, OSHA, licensing, and industry compliance requirements
- Strong leadership, communication, and coaching abilities
- Ability to manage through ambiguity and lead teams through change, including post-acquisition transitions
Working Conditions
This is a remote-based role with extensive travel required throughout the Mid-Atlantic region for branch visits, field audits, and team engagement. Consistent field presence is essential to success in this position. Candidates must be located within or willing to regularly travel throughout Mid-Atlantic region.
Compensation & Benefits
- Performance Bonus: Eligible
- Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance plans
- Life Insurance
- Short and Long Term disability plans
- 15 days vacation

Remote Regional Operations Director Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote regional operations director job?
Target remote-first companies and distributed enterprises that operate across multiple regions without a centralized headquarters. Remote employers screen hard for self-direction, clear written communication, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams asynchronously. Candidates who can demonstrate experience running distributed operations, resolving issues without in-person escalation, and producing structured written reporting for stakeholders consistently stand out.
Which companies hire remote regional operations directors?
Employers currently hiring remote regional operations directors include RLS Radiopharmacies, USSM, and EMCOR, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Remote-first technology firms, multi-site healthcare operators, and distributed logistics companies are the most consistent sources of these openings.
Can you get a remote regional operations director job with no experience?
Yes, but remote regional operations director roles at the entry level are harder to land because you must operate independently from day one without on-site support. Smaller remote-first companies and growth-stage startups are the most likely to consider candidates without formal director-level experience. Demonstrating initiative through documented process improvements, cross-team projects, or operations leadership in adjacent roles can open the door.
Do you need a degree for remote regional operations director jobs?
Not always. Remote employers weigh demonstrated operations leadership, results across distributed teams, and measurable outcomes far more heavily than a specific credential. A strong history of managing multi-site or multi-region operations, improving efficiency, and communicating clearly across time zones can substitute for or complement a formal degree in most remote hiring processes.
Which industries hire the most remote regional operations directors?
The sectors hiring the most remote regional operations directors are Technology & Software and Animal Care & Pet Services, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These industries hire regional operations directors remotely because their teams are distributed across multiple locations and time zones, making centralized in-office oversight impractical.
