Structural Revit Designer
Bureau Veritas is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Designer to join our multidisciplinary engineering team. This position plays a critical role in the development and delivery of structural engineering projects by transforming engineering concepts into accurate, coordinated, and high-quality construction documents. This is a fully remote role with Pacific Time Zone preference.
We are looking for a technically strong structural professional with advanced Structural Revit expertise and a solid understanding of building structural systems. The ideal candidate is more than a drafter - they understand structural design intent, can proactively identify coordination issues before they become RFIs, and are capable of developing structural drawings and models with minimal direction from engineering staff.
Working closely with Structural Engineers, Project Managers, Architects, and other design disciplines, you will support projects from concept development through construction documentation and construction support across a variety of commercial, industrial, institutional, municipal, and mixed-use building projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop structural plans, sections, details, schedules, and construction document packages for a wide range of building projects.
- Create, maintain, and update detailed Structural Revit models and drawing sets throughout all phases of design and construction.
- Prepare structural detailing for steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, wood, and post-tensioned concrete systems.
- Collaborate with Structural Engineers to translate engineering calculations and design concepts into coordinated, buildable construction documents.
- Support the planning, design, and documentation of structural systems from schematic design through final construction documents.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, and internal engineering disciplines to identify and resolve design conflicts, constructability concerns, and coordination issues early in the design process.
- Review project information and drawings to proactively identify discrepancies and potential RFIs before they impact construction.
- Interpret engineering intent and independently develop structural drawings with limited oversight.
- Incorporate redlines, markups, field conditions, and consultant feedback accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain project drawing files, BIM models, and documentation in accordance with company standards and quality control procedures.
- Utilize industry-standard software including Revit Structure, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Navisworks, and other modeling and coordination tools as required.
- Support project teams through design development, permit documentation, bidding, and construction administration phases.
- Ensure all deliverables meet established drafting standards, quality requirements, and project schedules.
- Deliver exceptional internal and external customer service through responsiveness, collaboration, and proactive problem-solving.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Architecture, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be substituted for education.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience producing structural construction documents for building projects.
- Demonstrated experience supporting structural engineering teams on commercial, industrial, institutional, municipal, healthcare, educational, mixed-use, or similar building projects.
- Strong experience developing structural drawings and details with minimal direction.
- Experience working on renovation, retrofit, rehabilitation, and new construction projects.
- Proven ability to coordinate effectively with engineers, architects, and multidisciplinary project teams.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Structural Revit is required.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Navisworks, Tekla, or other BIM coordination and modeling tools is a plus.
- Thorough understanding of construction documentation standards and structural drafting practices.
- Strong knowledge of structural systems including:
- Structural steel
- Reinforced concrete
- Post-tensioned concrete
- Masonry
- Wood framing systems
- Ability to understand structural load paths, framing systems, and detailing requirements.
- Strong understanding of retrofit detailing and existing building modifications.
Desired Attributes
- Ability to understand and execute engineering design intent rather than simply drafting markups.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing technically accurate deliverables.
- Ability to identify coordination issues, constructability concerns, and potential RFIs before construction.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and drawing revisions simultaneously.
- Self-motivated professional who thrives in a collaborative engineering environment.

Tips for Your Remote Structural Project Engineer Job Search
Show async project coordination on your resume
Remote structural employers want proof you can manage deliverables without daily in-person check-ins. Call out specific projects where you coordinated with architects, MEP engineers, or contractors across different offices, and name the tools you used to keep work moving.
Demonstrate your BIM and cloud analysis fluency
Remote structural project engineer roles depend on shared cloud-based models and collaborative analysis environments. List the specific versions of structural analysis and BIM software you've used on real projects, because remote hiring managers filter on these before they read anything else.
Apply early to remote roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists remote structural project engineer openings from across the U.S. in one place, so you can find roles that match your discipline and seniority and apply directly. Remote postings often close fast, so applying within the first few days gives you a real advantage.
Prepare to walk through a project remotely
Remote structural interviews almost always include a technical walkthrough over video. Have a recent project open and ready to share your screen, walk the interviewer through your analysis approach, and explain the coordination decisions you made. Fluency in that format signals you'll perform the same way on the job.
Target firms with existing distributed engineering teams
Companies that already run distributed structural teams have the IT infrastructure, project management workflows, and onboarding processes to set remote engineers up for success. Look for postings that mention cross-office collaboration or multi-region project delivery as part of the day-to-day role.
Remote Structural Project Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a remote structural project engineer job?
Target remote-first engineering consultancies and distributed AEC firms that have built workflows around off-site teams, because they're equipped to onboard and manage remote structural staff. Remote employers screen heavily for self-direction, clear async written communication, and proficiency in cloud-based structural analysis and BIM tools. A portfolio of delivered projects with documented coordination across distributed teams gives you a concrete edge over candidates who can only demonstrate in-office work.
Which companies hire remote structural project engineers?
Employers currently hiring remote structural project engineers include YA, U.S. Forensic, and ANS, per current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Remote structural project engineer roles are most common at remote-first engineering consultancies, multi-office AEC firms with distributed project teams, and infrastructure companies that coordinate work across multiple regions.
Can you get a remote structural project engineer job with no experience?
Yes, but remote entry-level structural project engineer roles are harder to land because employers expect you to work independently from day one without in-person mentorship. Remote-first engineering consultancies and firms with established distributed teams are your best target. Substitute experience with a strong capstone project portfolio, demonstrated proficiency in structural analysis software, and evidence of async collaboration like documented academic or freelance project coordination.
Do you need a degree for remote structural project engineer jobs?
Usually, but the degree requirement is often about licensure pathways rather than the job title itself. Most remote structural project engineer postings list a bachelor's in civil or structural engineering as a baseline because EIT or PE registration requires it. Remote employers weigh your BIM and analysis software proficiency, a portfolio of completed structural work, and demonstrated ability to coordinate projects without in-person oversight alongside your credentials.
Which industries hire the most remote structural project engineers?
The sectors hiring the most remote structural project engineers are Consulting & Professional Services, Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, and Construction & Real Estate, based on current remote listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors hire structural project engineers remotely because their project pipelines are geographically distributed and their teams already operate across multiple offices and time zones.
