Research Dietitian Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a research dietitian in Indiana?
You become a research dietitian in Indiana by first completing an accredited dietetic internship and passing the Commission on Dietetic Registration exam to earn the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential, which Indiana requires for licensure through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. From there, most Indiana research positions also expect at least a master's degree in nutrition or a related field, and many academic or clinical research roles prefer candidates with prior laboratory or clinical trial experience.
Which companies hire research dietitians in Indiana?
Companies currently hiring research dietitians in Indiana include PAM Health, TouchPoint Support Services, and Fresenius Medical Care, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Indiana's concentration of large academic health systems and research universities means many of these openings are tied to federally funded studies or long-term clinical programs.
Which Indiana cities have the most research dietitian jobs?
Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and Evansville account for the most research dietitian openings in Indiana. Indianapolis dominates because it is home to Indiana University Health and a cluster of academic medical centers, while Bloomington and West Lafayette draw demand from Indiana University and Purdue University, both of which run active nutrition and public health research programs that hire dietitians on a rolling basis.
Are there remote research dietitian jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they're relatively limited, since much research dietitian work involves direct participant contact, lab work, or on-site data collection. About 32% of research dietitian openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those that do offer flexibility tend to involve data analysis, grant writing, or manuscript preparation rather than participant-facing study coordination.
How can I get hired as a research dietitian in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to research coordinator or dietetic technician roles within Indiana University Health or Purdue University's nutrition research labs, where new graduates with an RDN credential and a completed dietetic internship are regularly considered. Volunteering or completing a practicum with an IRB-approved study, pursuing a graduate assistantship in a Purdue or IU nutrition department, and demonstrating basic data management skills in your application materials each give candidates a measurable edge over those with credentials alone.
Where can I find and apply to research dietitian jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to research dietitian jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Indiana employers and research institutions. Search the listings for roles that match your background, experience level, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
