Respiratory Therapist Jobs in Austin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a respiratory therapist job in Austin?
Focus your search on Austin's large acute-care hospital systems, which do the bulk of local hiring, along with the growing network of long-term acute care and rehabilitation facilities on the city's north and south corridors. Candidates with critical care or neonatal experience stand out in this market. Volunteering or completing a clinical rotation at an Austin-area facility before applying is one of the most reliable ways to get a foot in the door locally.
Which companies hire respiratory therapists in Austin?
Employers hiring respiratory therapists in Austin right now include St. David's HealthCare, Ascension, and American Traveler, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Austin's hiring mix skews toward large integrated health systems and specialty hospitals, with a smaller share coming from outpatient pulmonary clinics and home health agencies serving the broader metro area.
Are there remote respiratory therapist jobs in Austin?
Yes, though remote opportunities are rare for respiratory therapists because most duties require direct hands-on patient care. About 0% of respiratory therapist openings tied to Austin are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to cover telehealth consultations, sleep study interpretation, or clinical education and training roles rather than bedside care positions.
How can I get a respiratory therapist job in Austin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Austin is applying for registered respiratory therapist associate or staff therapist openings at the city's hospital systems, which routinely hire new graduates from accredited programs. Austin's home health and long-term acute care facilities also take on early-career candidates for general respiratory support roles. Completing a clinical externship at an Austin facility before graduation and obtaining CRT or RRT credentials on schedule gives you the clearest advantage in this market.
Which industries hire the most respiratory therapists in Austin?
Austin respiratory therapist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Insurance, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The city's continued population growth and the expansion of its major medical campuses have sustained consistent demand across these sectors, with acute care accounting for the largest share of active openings.
