Respiratory Therapist Jobs in San Antonio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a respiratory therapist job in San Antonio?
San Antonio's acute care hospitals, long-term acute care facilities, and the health systems anchored around the South Texas Medical Center are the most active hirers for respiratory therapists in the city. Candidates with NICU, ventilator management, or pulmonary rehab experience stand out in this market. Applying directly to large health systems and checking postings for their satellite campuses in Stone Oak and the far north side broadens your options considerably.
Which companies hire respiratory therapists in San Antonio?
Companies currently hiring respiratory therapists in San Antonio include University Health, Tenet Healthcare, and CHRISTUS Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. San Antonio's employer mix is weighted toward large integrated health systems, community hospitals, and specialty long-term acute care centers serving the region's sizeable veteran and military populations.
Are there remote respiratory therapist jobs in San Antonio?
Yes, though remote work is rare for respiratory therapists given the hands-on, patient-facing nature of the role. About 25% of respiratory therapist openings tied to San Antonio are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to be in utilization review, respiratory care education, telehealth respiratory triage, or clinical documentation rather than direct patient care.
How can I get a respiratory therapist job in San Antonio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Antonio is applying to large health systems that run structured new-graduate respiratory therapy programs, particularly those connected to the South Texas Medical Center. Step-down units, long-term acute care hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities in areas like the Medical Center and Westover Hills frequently hire entry-level CRT-eligible candidates. Completing clinical rotations at a San Antonio facility and following up directly with the recruiter gives new graduates a meaningful local advantage.
Which industries hire the most respiratory therapists in San Antonio?
San Antonio respiratory therapist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. San Antonio's large veteran population, military medical infrastructure at Joint Base San Antonio, and the region's fast-growing senior demographic keep demand particularly strong across hospital, post-acute, and specialty pulmonary care settings.
