Roofing Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a roofing contractor in Oklahoma?
To work as a licensed roofing contractor in Oklahoma, you must register with the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board, which oversees roofing contractor licensing in the state. Applicants must pass a trade exam, carry general liability and workers compensation insurance, and meet experience requirements. Many roofers start as laborers or helpers under a licensed contractor to build hands-on experience before pursuing their own license.
Which companies hire roofings in Oklahoma?
Companies currently hiring roofings in Oklahoma include Tecta America, Mighty Dog Roofing, and Jobot, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Oklahoma's active storm season and ongoing residential and commercial construction keep roofing employers hiring throughout the year, particularly in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa metro areas.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most roofing jobs?
Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Broken Arrow have the most roofing job openings in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City drives the highest volume through its large residential subdivisions, commercial corridor development, and hail-prone weather that generates consistent repair demand, while Tulsa's industrial base and Lawton's proximity to Fort Sill support steady contractor activity in those markets.
Are there remote roofing jobs in Oklahoma?
Yes, but they're rare. About 26% of roofing openings tied to Oklahoma are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the hands-on, site-based nature of most roofing work. The roles most likely to offer any remote flexibility are estimating, project management, or insurance claims coordination positions attached to larger roofing companies.
How can I get hired as a roofing in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying as a roofing laborer or helper with a licensed Oklahoma contractor, where you learn installation techniques on the job without prior credentials. Large residential roofing companies in Oklahoma City and Tulsa regularly hire entry-level helpers for their crews during busy spring and summer seasons. Earning an OSHA 10 construction safety card before applying gives candidates a clear edge and is inexpensive to obtain through community colleges across the state.
