Sales Business Development Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a sales business development job in Chicago?
Focus your search on Chicago's densest hiring clusters: B2B software firms in Fulton Market, financial services companies in the Loop, and healthcare and life sciences employers along the North Side. Candidates who can show pipeline-building experience, familiarity with Salesforce or HubSpot, and a network in Chicago's startup and mid-market scene have a clear edge. Attending local events hosted by groups like the Chicago Innovation community also opens doors that cold applications don't.
Which companies hire sales business developments in Chicago?
Companies currently hiring sales business developments in Chicago include Henkel, Avanade, and Epsilon, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Chicago's hiring mix is broad, covering Fortune 500 headquarters, fast-growing SaaS startups, regional insurance and financial services firms, and large healthcare systems, all of which maintain active business development teams in the city.
Are there remote sales business development jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role, since outbound and field-facing positions typically require in-person presence while strategic and account-based work is more portable. About 63% of sales business development openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the most flexible arrangements found in SaaS, consulting, and enterprise software companies based in the Loop and Fulton Market.
How can I get a sales business development job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is through a Sales Development Representative or Business Development Representative role at one of the city's many mid-size SaaS or fintech companies, particularly those clustered in Fulton Market and River North that run structured SDR training programs. Internships at Chicago-area firms with formal sales rotations, or lateral moves from customer success or account management, give candidates a credible starting point. Demonstrating local market knowledge and any experience with outbound prospecting tools helps you stand out at the entry level.
Which industries hire the most sales business developments in Chicago?
Most sales business development openings in Chicago sit in Manufacturing, Technology & Software, and Consulting & Professional Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Chicago's role as a national hub for financial services, a growing center for B2B technology, and one of the largest healthcare markets in the Midwest means those three sectors consistently generate the highest volume of business development hiring in the city.
