Sales Director Jobs in Minneapolis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a sales director job in Minneapolis?
Focus your search on Minneapolis's three strongest hiring sectors: medical devices along the 494 corridor, financial services downtown, and enterprise software in the North Loop. Mid-market and regional headquarters based here often promote from within their Minneapolis teams, so targeting account executive or regional sales manager roles at those firms is the most reliable path into a director seat. A demonstrated history of managing quota-carrying teams in any of those verticals gives you a clear edge locally.
Which companies hire sales directors in Minneapolis?
Employers hiring sales directors in Minneapolis right now include ZURU, CJ Schwan’s, and EY, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Minneapolis draws a mix of large corporate headquarters, regional insurance and financial firms, and fast-growing health-tech companies, all of which regularly need experienced sales leadership.
Are there remote sales director jobs in Minneapolis?
Yes, though with limits: sales director roles tend to require local relationship-building and team presence, so fully remote openings are less common than in purely analytical or technical fields. About 88% of sales director openings tied to Minneapolis are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with most of those positions reserving in-office time for team management and key client meetings while allowing remote work for individual pipeline activity.
How can I get a sales director job in Minneapolis with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving up through a Minneapolis-based mid-market company in medical devices or financial services, sectors where structured sales development programs are common and internal promotions to director happen regularly. Target regional manager or senior account executive titles at those employers first, since Minneapolis firms in those industries consistently prefer to promote people who already know the local market. Volunteering to lead a smaller territory or pilot team can accelerate that transition.
Which industries hire the most sales directors in Minneapolis?
Minneapolis sales director roles concentrate in Cybersecurity, Manufacturing, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Minneapolis's deep roots as a headquarters city for medical technology, insurance, and enterprise software companies means those sectors generate consistent, year-round demand for experienced sales leadership rather than seasonal or project-based hiring.
