Sales Director Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales director in Minnesota?
Most sales director roles in Minnesota require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, combined with several years of sales experience that includes team leadership. There is no state-issued license required to work as a sales director in Minnesota. Employers in healthcare technology and medical devices often look for candidates who understand Minnesota's regulated industries, and an MBA from a Minnesota institution like the Carlson School of Management can strengthen a candidacy.
How much do sales directors make in Minnesota?
Sales directors in Minnesota earn a median of about $151,670 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $79,900 for the lowest 10% to over $258,460 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales directors in Minnesota?
Minnesota sales director roles are posted by Benedictine, Evolve Senior Living, and ZURU and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Minnesota's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, particularly in healthcare, financial services, and agriculture, means large enterprise employers drive a significant share of the openings.
Which Minnesota cities have the most sales director jobs?
Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and Eagan have the most sales director openings in Minnesota. The Twin Cities account for the bulk of postings because of the dense concentration of corporate headquarters and regional offices there, while Rochester draws openings tied to the Mayo Clinic health system and its surrounding medical technology ecosystem.
Are there remote sales director jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, and more than many senior roles, since sales director work often centers on strategy, pipeline oversight, and client relationships that can be managed remotely. About 61% of sales director openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broader flexibility at the director level. Roles tied to hands-on territory management or in-person enterprise accounts tend to require more consistent on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a sales director in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is to start in an account executive or senior sales representative role at a large Minnesota employer and build a record of quota attainment before moving into management. Companies like Medtronic, Ecolab, and UnitedHealth Group run structured sales development programs that pipeline talent into leadership. Earning a leadership role on a smaller team, such as a team lead or inside sales manager at a mid-size Twin Cities firm, is a common bridge into a full director title.
Where can I find and apply to sales director jobs in Minnesota?
You can find and apply to sales director jobs in Minnesota on Migrate Mate, which lists current Minnesota openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that match your industry background and territory preferences, then apply directly to the ones that fit your experience.
