Job Summary
Milwaukee Public Schools is actively recruiting qualified candidates for the School Nurse Associate (LPN) position.
The School Nurse Associate (LPN) provides nursing care for students with chronic or special health care needs in the elementary, middle and high school setting under the direction and supervision of a Milwaukee Public Schools Nursing Supervisor.

- One (1) letter of recommendation which must be dated within the last 12 months and signed by the author of the letter

Responsibilities
- Performs direct intervention tasks such as taking vital signs, performing CPR/AED and utilizing child specific emergency protocol as required, and appropriate management of illness/injury of students according to Red Cross and MPS policies, and insuring the safety of students and self utilizing medical aids and or body mechanics to turn, transfer, or ambulate students.
- Reinforces teaching provided by registered nurse to students, and facilitates student compliance with health screening programs suggested by School Nurse and/or School Nurse Supervisors.
- Identifies and reports notable changes in a student's medical condition or need for medical attention due to illness, accident, injury or general observation to either the School Nurse Supervisor or Principal.
- Reports to the School Nurse Supervisor any safety hazards which would jeopardize the student while in transit to and/or from home or school.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Eligible applicants MUST:
- Licensure through National Council for State Boards of Nursing
- LPN Credentials Only
- Must be CPR certified
- One year of hands on experience providing nursing care to children is required
- Must be able to physically perform all duties including lifting up to 50 pounds
- Must have effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Must hold a valid Wisconsin's driver's license at time of appointment (and throughout employment) and availability of a properly insured personal automobile for use on the job (car allowance provided)
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
The salary range for the Full-Time School Nurse Associate (LPN) position starts at $40,745.91 and increases according to a set salary schedule which is based on years of work experience as a fully licensed Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
This work schedule for this position is 10-month/189 work days during the school year.
