Security Consultant Jobs in Nebraska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a security consultant in Nebraska?
Nebraska does not require a state-issued license specifically for security consultants, so the path runs through education and industry credentials. Most employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information technology, or a related field, along with certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+. Candidates with backgrounds in IT administration, network engineering, or compliance auditing transition into consulting roles most readily at Nebraska's large financial and defense-adjacent employers.
How much do security consultants make in Nebraska?
Security consultants in Nebraska earn a median of about $77,980 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $40,310 for the lowest 10% to over $127,650 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire security consultants in Nebraska?
Nebraska security consultant roles are posted by Metro One LPSG, HDR, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nebraska's concentration of financial institutions, defense contractors near Offutt Air Force Base, and large agricultural and logistics enterprises creates consistent consulting demand across both internal and third-party security functions.
Which Nebraska cities have the most security consultant jobs?
Omaha, Lincoln, and Papillion are the Nebraska cities with the most security consultant openings. Omaha dominates the market because it is home to major financial institutions, insurance companies, and the headquarters of large corporations that require ongoing security oversight, while Lincoln draws demand from state government agencies, the University of Nebraska system, and regional healthcare networks.
Are there remote security consultant jobs in Nebraska?
Yes, and more than many technical fields. About 33% of security consultant openings tied to Nebraska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves analysis, documentation, and virtual assessments rather than on-site physical presence. Risk assessment, compliance review, and security architecture roles are the most commonly offered in remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a security consultant in Nebraska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior security analyst or IT risk associate role at one of Nebraska's large financial services or healthcare employers, where structured rotational or associate programs exist for candidates early in their careers. Mutual of Omaha and Nebraska Medicine, for example, hire entry-level analysts who move into consulting tracks with demonstrated performance. Earning CompTIA Security+ or a related foundational certification before applying gives candidates a measurable edge over those relying solely on a degree.
Where can I find and apply to security consultant jobs in Nebraska?
You can find and apply to security consultant jobs in Nebraska on Migrate Mate, which lists current Nebraska openings across industries and experience levels. Search the listings, identify the roles that match your background and target market, and apply directly to the ones that fit. No profile creation is required to view or apply to openings.
