Entry Level Security Operations Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level security operations engineer job?
Employers hiring at the entry level look for hands-on exposure over a long resume. Candidates who stand out typically hold a CompTIA Security+ or similar certification, have completed a cybersecurity internship or capstone project, and can demonstrate familiarity with SIEM tools, incident triage, and log analysis. A home lab or documented CTF competition work can also show practical readiness when direct work experience is limited.
Which companies hire entry level security operations engineers?
Companies hiring entry level security operations engineers right now include CENCORE, TikTok, and Pure Storage, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. At this level, hiring comes from a mix of large enterprises with structured SOC teams, government contractors, and managed security service providers that regularly bring in junior analysts and engineers to grow within their operations centers.
Are there remote entry level security operations engineer jobs?
Yes, though on-site roles remain common given the hands-on nature of security operations work. About 44% of entry level security operations engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, so candidates who need flexibility should filter specifically for those work settings when searching current listings on Migrate Mate.
Are these new grad security operations engineer jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or co-ops toward its requirements, or explicitly accepts a strong portfolio in place of full-time work history. Searching for new grad or junior security operations engineer openings will surface the most accessible roles for candidates entering the field for the first time.
Which industries hire the most entry level security operations engineers?
Entry Level security operations engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Insurance, and Electronics & Hardware, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026.
