Security Project Manager Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a security project manager in Georgia?
The most direct path is earning a bachelor's degree in information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field, then obtaining the Project Management Professional credential from the Project Management Institute. Georgia does not require a state-issued license specific to security project management, but many roles in the Atlanta metro and Augusta defense corridor expect candidates to hold or be eligible for a federal security clearance. Gaining experience on security system deployments or IT infrastructure projects strengthens your candidacy considerably.
How much do security project managers make in Georgia?
Security project managers in Georgia earn a median of about $102,140 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $58,290 for the lowest 10% to over $163,320 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire security project managers in Georgia?
Employers hiring security project managers in Georgia right now include Walmart, Akima, and Wilson, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Georgia's concentration of defense contractors near Augusta and large technology firms headquartered in the Atlanta metro means demand is steady across both the public and private sectors.
Which Georgia cities have the most security project manager jobs?
Atlanta, Valdosta, and Duluth have the most security project manager openings in Georgia. Atlanta leads because of its density of enterprise technology companies, financial institutions, and corporate headquarters, while Augusta's proximity to Fort Eisenhower drives consistent demand from defense contractors and government agencies requiring cleared security project managers for sensitive programs.
Are there remote security project manager jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and more than many security roles, since project coordination, vendor management, and reporting work can often be done off-site. About 50% of security project manager openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broad adoption in enterprise technology and consulting. Physical security system installation and government cleared positions remain largely on-site.
How can I get hired as a security project manager in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is moving from an adjacent role such as IT coordinator, security analyst, or systems administrator into a junior project manager position. Large Georgia employers like Leidos and Northrop Grumman recruit through associate program manager tracks that welcome candidates with a CompTIA Security+ or Certified Associate in Project Management credential alongside a relevant degree. Focusing applications on Atlanta-based technology firms or Augusta defense contractors that run structured onboarding programs accelerates the transition without requiring senior-level experience.
Where can I find and apply to security project manager jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to security project manager jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Georgia openings updated regularly. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to each employer from the listing.
