Description
Leidos’ Health and Services Sector is seeking a Senior IT Training & Multimedia Specialist to work in Bethesda, MD.
Candidates MUST:
Be local to the DC metro area
Be a US Citizen or Green Card holder with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
Work will be hybrid onsite/remote
Position Summary: The Senior IT Training & Multimedia Specialist serves as the lead videographer for the IT Training & Multimedia Production team, leading the development and production of video content, motion design, and graphic design deliverables. This role requires deep proficiency in video production and motion design, including UI motion design work for eLearning packages, and the ability to guide best practices across the team. The specialist will collaborate closely with the lead instructional designer, and may mentor junior team members, to ensure high-quality content delivery.
What We're Looking For
We rely on forward-thinking candidates who bring strong project management instincts, a curiosity for researching and recommending emerging technologies, and the initiative to propose new ideas and approaches to video production and motion design. This includes staying current on and responsibly applying AI technologies — evaluating new tools thoughtfully, understanding their limitations, and using them in ways that support quality, accuracy, and ethical content creation.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, filming, and editing of video and photography content across the customer group — from studio and on-location shoots — including lighting, sound, music selection, and graphic production, according to customer requirements.
- Collaborate with the instructional designer to create interactive and engaging content.
- Produce and edit video content using tools such as Camtasia, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and DaVinci Resolve; full productions include scriptwriting, storyboarding, lighting, green screen work, and animation, along with media management and graphic creation.
- Conduct quality control and apply corrective actions to ensure content quality.
- Communicate problem-solving efforts, results, and resolutions effectively.
- Recommend and integrate new technology and workflows to create accurate and efficient results.
- Continuously research and implement new editing technologies and industry best practices to maximize efficiency.
- Manage media after filming, organizing files, and coordinating with stakeholders.
- Create videos using a teleprompter in a studio or on location.
- Lead live streaming setup and production using tools such as OBS or vMix.
- Transcribe and caption videos, including use of automated captioning tools (e.g., Rev, Otter, YouTube auto-captioning).
- Lead motion graphics and animation work using tools such as After Effects, Lottie Creator, Rive, or Cinema 4D.
- Explore and apply responsible AI-powered video and editing tools (e.g., Adobe Firefly, Runway, Descript, Premiere Pro AI features), AI writing/content tools (e.g., Claude), and AI voice/audio tools (e.g., ElevenLabs) to improve production efficiency.
- Lead technical research for the recommendation of new equipment, software, and supplies, grounding recommendations in demonstrated production need, interoperability with existing systems, current inventory, cost, and business value.
Required Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in media production or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or an Associate degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
Required Skills
- Strong graphic design skills and proficiency with tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, or InDesign.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and client-facing skills, with a strong sense of ownership over the customer experience.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and guide the work of others.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and recommend equipment and software based on production need, interoperability, existing inventory, cost, and business value rather than personal preference.
- Proficiency with DSLR/Cinema camera equipment (Canon, Nikon, or Sony) and videography/photography techniques.
- Experience with live streaming (e.g., OBS, vMix) and editing training videos.
- Experience with nonlinear video editing systems and modern codecs (Pro-Res, H.265, etc.).
- Experience with transcription and captioning, including automated captioning tools.
- Proficiency with camera (video and photography) equipment.
- Understanding of Agile workflows and methodologies (e.g., sprints, backlogs, stand-ups) as applied to creative or production project management.
Preferred Skills
- Extensive experience in video production and motion design.
- Familiarity with eLearning development tools, particularly Articulate 360 and Rise 360.
- Deep knowledge of multimedia production techniques and software.
- Must have knowledge of Section 508 compliance and accessibility standards for video and eLearning content.
- Creative problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to tasks.
- Experience with 2D or 3D animation and motion graphics tools such as Cinema 4D or Lottie Files.
- Experience with YouTube, Podcasting, TV Production, Radio Production, or Documentary Film.
- Familiarity with AI-powered video/editing tools (e.g., Adobe Firefly, Runway, Descript, or generative AI features within Premiere Pro), AI writing/content assistants (e.g., Claude, Copilot, Gemini), and AI voice generation tools (e.g., ElevenLabs).
- Familiarity with project management and workflow automation tools such as Microsoft Lists and Power Automate, as well as core Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Experience mentoring or leading junior production staff.
Work Environment
- The position will primarily work in an office environment with occasional requirements to work on-site for video production or other tasks.
- The role may require occasional travel for training or professional development.

Senior IT Engineer Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior it engineer in Maryland?
Maryland does not require a state-issued license to work as a senior IT engineer, so the path runs through education, certifications, and clearance eligibility. Most Maryland employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, followed by progressive IT engineering experience. Certifications recognized across Maryland's federal contracting and healthcare sectors, such as CISSP or CompTIA Security+, significantly strengthen a candidate's profile alongside demonstrated project leadership.
Which companies hire senior it engineers in Maryland?
Employers hiring senior it engineers in Maryland right now include Johns Hopkins University, AMBU, and Leidos, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Maryland's concentration of federal agencies and defense contractors means many of the state's most active senior IT employers require or prefer candidates with an active security clearance.
Which Maryland cities have the most senior it engineer jobs?
Bethesda, Columbia, and Baltimore lead Maryland for senior it engineer openings. Baltimore anchors the state's healthcare IT and financial sector hiring, while Bethesda and the broader Montgomery County corridor concentrate federal agency and defense contractor demand, with employers like Leidos and Booz Allen Hamilton driving consistent volume in those suburban markets.
Are there remote senior it engineer jobs in Maryland?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 67% of senior it engineer openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of this work centers on architecture, systems design, and cloud management rather than on-site hardware. Roles tied to classified federal contracts are the main exception, as those typically require in-person access to secure facilities.
How can I get hired as a senior it engineer in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an IT analyst or junior systems administrator role at a Maryland federal contractor or large healthcare system, where internal mobility into senior engineering tracks is common. Employers like Johns Hopkins Health System, Booz Allen Hamilton, and SAIC run associate and early-career development programs that build toward senior-level work. Earning a CompTIA Security+ or Cloud+ certification before applying gives candidates without a long resume a concrete differentiator in Maryland's competitive federal and healthcare IT market.
Where can I find and apply to senior it engineer jobs in Maryland?
You can find and apply to senior it engineer jobs in Maryland on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maryland openings updated regularly. Find the roles that fit your experience and apply directly, without any additional steps in between.
