Employers in the state strongly favor candidates with demonstrated experience leading campaigns in competitive verticals such as tech, entertainment, or consumer products, and a portfolio of measurable results carries significant weight during hiring.
How much do senior marketing strategists make in California?
Senior marketing strategists in California earn a median of about $193,620 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $104,370 for the lowest 10% to over $326,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.

Employers hiring senior marketing strategists in California right now include Horizon Media, KLA, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of technology headquarters, entertainment studios, and direct-to-consumer brands means demand for senior strategists stays consistent across a wide range of industries throughout the year.
Which California cities have the most senior marketing strategist jobs?
Los Angeles, Milpitas, and Pomona have the most senior marketing strategist openings in California. Los Angeles draws volume from entertainment, media, and consumer brands, San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area are anchored by technology and SaaS companies that maintain large in-house marketing teams, and San Diego's life sciences and defense-adjacent industries generate steady demand for strategists who can translate complex offerings to business audiences.
