Marketing Coordinator Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a marketing coordinator in California?
A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field is the standard entry point for marketing coordinator roles in California. Unlike licensed professions, the role carries no state-issued credential or California licensing requirement. California employers place high value on demonstrated experience with digital marketing tools, campaign coordination, and measurable results, which candidates typically build through internships, university marketing programs, or entry-level roles at agencies or in-house teams.
How much do marketing coordinators make in California?
Marketing coordinators in California earn a median of about $193,620 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $104,370 for the lowest 10% to over $326,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire marketing coordinators in California?
Employers hiring marketing coordinators in California right now include Sunny Distributor, NBCUniversal, and Upper Deck, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's dense concentration of technology companies, entertainment studios, and consumer brands means marketing coordinator openings appear at both large corporate headquarters and fast-growing startups across the state.
Which California cities have the most marketing coordinator jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Carlsbad have the most marketing coordinator openings in California. Los Angeles leads because of its entertainment, media, and consumer brand industries, San Francisco and the broader Bay Area follow due to the concentration of technology and SaaS companies, and San Diego sees steady demand driven by its life sciences, defense, and hospitality sectors.
Are there remote marketing coordinator jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 27% of marketing coordinator openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the coordination work, campaign management, content scheduling, and reporting happens through digital tools that don't require a physical location. Content coordination, social media management, and email marketing roles are the most likely to be fully remote.
How can I get hired as a marketing coordinator in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an internship or coordinator assistant role at a California agency, tech company, or consumer brand, where you build a portfolio of real campaign work. Large California employers like NBCUniversal, Adobe, and Kaiser Permanente run structured internship and new-grad programs that feed into full coordinator roles. Adjacent positions in sales support, marketing operations, or social media management are also common lateral moves that lead directly into coordinator titles.
Where can I find and apply to marketing coordinator jobs in California?
You can find and apply to marketing coordinator jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings updated regularly. Search by city, specialty, or employer to narrow down what fits your background, then apply directly to the roles that match.
