Travelin' Tom's Coffee of Jackson is a growing, family-owned mobile coffee business serving schools, businesses, community events, festivals, and private events throughout Southern Michigan.
We're looking for a Marketing & Community Relations Coordinator to help us grow our relationships, find new opportunities, keep up with existing clients, and take ownership of some of the marketing and outreach that comes with a growing business.
This is not primarily a social media position.
While social media and content creation will be part of the job, we're specifically looking for someone who is comfortable reaching out to people, starting conversations, following up, and building relationships.
If your idea of marketing is mainly creating graphics and posting on Facebook or Instagram, this probably isn't the right position for you.
What you'll actually be doing
You'll work directly with the owners and help with things like:
- Reaching out to local businesses, schools and organizations to introduce Travelin' Tom's and generate new bookings
- Following up with leads and previous customers
- Developing relationships with event coordinators, HR departments, schools and community organizations
- Helping fill open dates on our event calendar
- Identifying new events, partnerships and sales opportunities
- Keeping track of leads, conversations and follow-ups
- Helping manage incoming event inquiries and scheduling
- Creating and scheduling social media content
- Promoting upcoming locations, specials and events
- Developing simple email campaigns and other marketing materials
- Helping brainstorm promotions and creative ways to grow the business
The person we're looking for
We're looking for someone who takes initiative.
You should be comfortable sending the first email, making a phone call, introducing yourself to someone you don't know, and following up when someone doesn't respond.
We're not looking for someone who needs a detailed task list every time they work. We want someone who can be given a goal like "We have four open weekdays next month and want to book hosted coffee events" and start figuring out how to make that happen.
You don't necessarily need a marketing degree or a traditional marketing background. Experience in sales, event planning, community relations, hospitality, fundraising, client relations, administrative coordination, business development or similar work may be just as valuable to us.
You should be organized, personable, comfortable communicating professionally and genuinely enjoy building relationships with people.
Experience we'd love to see
Experience with some combination of social media management, email marketing, Canva or similar design software, customer relationship management, sales/outreach, event coordination, or community engagement is a plus.
More importantly, we're looking for someone who can show us what they've actually done and how they've helped an organization, business or project grow.
About the position
This will start as a very part-time position with flexible hours, with much of the work able to be done remotely. There will occasionally be opportunities to meet with us, see the truck in operation, attend events or interact with clients in person.
We're a small family-owned business, so this isn't a traditional corporate marketing position. You'll be working directly with the owners and will have quite a bit of opportunity to bring your own ideas to the table.
For the right person, we'd love for this position to grow as the business grows.
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 6.0 – 10.0 per week
Benefits:
- Flexible schedule
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Addison, MI 49220

Marketing Coordinator Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a marketing coordinator in Michigan?
The concrete path in Michigan starts with a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or a related field from one of the state's many strong programs at universities like Michigan State, University of Michigan, or Wayne State. No state-issued license is required for the role. Most Michigan employers expect a portfolio of campaign or content work alongside the degree, and completing an internship with a Michigan-based company significantly strengthens a candidate's position.
Which companies hire marketing coordinators in Michigan?
Companies currently hiring marketing coordinators in Michigan include Carhartt, DOCR, and VENUES, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's mix of automotive giants, regional health systems, and mid-size B2B manufacturers creates a consistently broad range of marketing coordinator openings across the state.
Which Michigan cities have the most marketing coordinator jobs?
Detroit, Farmington Hills, and Grand Rapids account for the largest share of marketing coordinator openings in Michigan. Detroit drives the most volume through its concentration of automotive, financial services, and healthcare headquarters, while Grand Rapids reflects strong demand from its growing health and manufacturing sectors, and Ann Arbor draws openings from the university, tech startups, and research-driven organizations clustered there.
Are there remote marketing coordinator jobs in Michigan?
Yes, and more than many fields, since marketing coordination is primarily a desk-based, digital-first role. About 67% of marketing coordinator openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the role's reliance on digital tools over physical presence. Content coordination, email campaign management, and social media scheduling are the tasks most commonly performed fully remote.
How can I get hired as a marketing coordinator in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an internship or cooperative education placement, which major Michigan employers like General Motors, Dow, and Spectrum Health run regularly for students and recent graduates. Applying for marketing assistant or communications assistant roles at Michigan universities or regional nonprofits is a strong lateral move into coordination work. Building a portfolio of real projects, even from volunteer or campus organization work, and earning a Google Analytics or HubSpot certification gives candidates a measurable edge with Michigan hiring managers.
Where can I find and apply to marketing coordinator jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to marketing coordinator jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly.
