Inside Sales Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a inside sales manager in California?
Most inside sales managers in California move into the role after several years as individual contributors in inside sales, account management, or business development. California does not require a state-issued license to work in this role. Employers typically look for a bachelor's degree alongside a consistent record of quota achievement. Completing certifications from recognized sales training programs and gaining familiarity with CRM tools are the most practical steps toward qualifying for a management position.
How much do inside sales managers make in California?
Inside sales managers in California earn a median of about $81,140 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $51,200 for the lowest 10% to over $155,150 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire inside sales managers in California?
Employers hiring inside sales managers in California right now include Verizon, ADP, and White Cap, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's dense concentration of technology headquarters and enterprise software companies means demand is especially consistent in the Bay Area and Los Angeles corridors.
Which California cities have the most inside sales manager jobs?
Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Sacramento have the most inside sales manager openings in California. San Francisco and Silicon Valley dominate because of the regional concentration of SaaS and enterprise technology companies, while Los Angeles draws volume from its media, fintech, and healthtech sectors, and San Diego contributes through its biotech and defense-adjacent industries.
Are there remote inside sales manager jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. Inside sales management is desk-based by nature, making remote and hybrid arrangements genuinely common. About 37% of inside sales manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly California technology employers have adopted distributed work models. The portions of the role most likely to remain remote include pipeline reviews, team coaching calls, and CRM reporting.
How can I get hired as a inside sales manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving through a structured sales development or account executive role at a California technology company and building a measurable record of quota attainment before stepping into management. Large Bay Area and Los Angeles SaaS employers regularly promote from within and run formal leadership development tracks for high-performing individual contributors. Taking on a team lead or acting manager assignment, even informally, and earning a recognized sales certification strengthens a candidate's case for a first management role.
