Tips for Your Sales Operations Job Search
Quantify your pipeline and process impact
Sales operations resumes live or die on numbers. Replace vague duties with metrics: forecast accuracy rates, reduction in sales cycle length, or quota attainment lift after a process change you owned. Hiring managers scan for evidence you moved a number, not that you managed a system.
List every CRM and BI tool you have used
Salesforce, HubSpot, Clari, Outreach, Tableau, and similar tools are filtered in job postings. Name each one explicitly in your skills section, even tools you used briefly. Applicant tracking systems drop resumes that don't match the tool stack listed in the job description.
Target openings by their reporting structure
Sales operations roles that report to a CRO move faster and pay more than those under a CFO or VP of Sales. Check the job description for who this role reports to. Roles reporting to revenue leadership usually own strategy, while finance-adjacent roles skew toward forecasting and reporting.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists sales operations openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a process walkthrough for interviews
Expect at least one interview question asking you to walk through a sales process or territory model you built from scratch. Prepare a two-minute answer that names the problem, the tool you used, the logic behind your decisions, and what changed after implementation. Vague answers lose to concrete walkthroughs.
Negotiate scope before you negotiate salary
Before accepting an offer, confirm whether you own the tech stack, or only administer it. Sales operations titles range from pure Salesforce admin to full revenue architecture ownership. Clarifying this upfront prevents role mismatch and gives you a stronger case for a higher comp band.
Sales Operations Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most sales operations professionals?
The companies hiring the most sales operations professionals right now include AutoZone, Finish Line, and State Farm, with the largest share of openings in California, Texas, and New York, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Enterprise SaaS and high-growth technology companies consistently post the highest volume of sales operations roles.
How many sales operations jobs are remote?
About 17% of sales operations openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, making it one of the more flexible functions within a sales organization. Roles focused on CRM administration, reporting, and forecasting tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions that require close collaboration with field sales teams are more likely to be hybrid or on-site.
How do you become a sales operations professional?
Start by building fluency in a CRM platform, with Salesforce being the most broadly required. Move into an analyst or coordinator role inside a sales team, ideally one where you own a reporting or process workflow. From there, demonstrate you can connect data to sales outcomes, and pursue roles with increasing scope over forecasting, territory planning, or tech stack ownership.
Can you get a sales operations job with little or no experience?
Yes, entry-level sales operations roles exist and typically focus on CRM data hygiene, report building, and administrative support for a sales team. The fastest way in without direct experience is completing a Salesforce Administrator certification, which is widely recognized by hiring managers. Internships or analyst roles inside a sales or revenue team also provide a direct path into the function.
What does the sales operations interview process look like?
Most sales operations interview processes include a recruiter screen, a hiring manager conversation focused on your process and tool experience, and a technical or take-home exercise involving data analysis or a Salesforce scenario. Final rounds often include a presentation to a revenue or operations leader. Expect to walk through a specific process or model you built and explain the business impact it had.
Where can I find and apply to sales operations jobs?
You can find and apply to sales operations jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Find roles that match your experience and apply directly to each listing. No intermediary steps are required between finding a role and submitting your application.
