Senior Property Accountant Jobs in Kentucky: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior property accountant in Kentucky?
The standard path begins with a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, followed by several years in general or property-specific accounting roles. Kentucky does not require a state-issued license to work as a property accountant, but most employers in Louisville and Lexington expect candidates to hold or be pursuing a CPA credential through the Kentucky State Board of Accountancy. Building experience in lease administration, CAM reconciliations, and financial reporting for commercial or multifamily portfolios accelerates the path to senior-level roles.
How much do senior property accountants make in Kentucky?
Senior property accountants in Kentucky earn a median of about $75,270 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $50,750 for the lowest 10% to over $121,230 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior property accountants in Kentucky?
Companies currently hiring senior property accountants in Kentucky include Winterwood, Dean Dorton, and HILLS Properties, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisville's concentration of commercial real estate managers, multifamily developers, and healthcare-adjacent property operators makes it the most active hiring market in the state.
Which Kentucky cities have the most senior property accountant jobs?
Louisville, Florence, and La Grange lead Kentucky for senior property accountant openings. Louisville dominates because of its large commercial real estate sector, growing multifamily market, and presence of regional property management firms, while Lexington's concentration of university-affiliated, healthcare, and mixed-use developments supports a steady secondary market for property accounting professionals.
Are there remote senior property accountant jobs in Kentucky?
Yes, and more than many finance roles, since senior property accountants work primarily with ledgers, reports, and software rather than on-site. About 5% of senior property accountant openings tied to Kentucky are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of much of the work. Financial reporting, budget variance analysis, and lease abstraction are the tasks most commonly performed remotely, while year-end audits and tenant CAM reviews may still require in-office coordination.
How can I get hired as a senior property accountant in Kentucky with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a staff or junior property accountant at a regional property management firm or commercial real estate company in Louisville or Lexington. Firms that manage large multifamily or mixed-use portfolios routinely hire candidates from adjacent roles such as general ledger accountant, accounts payable specialist, or audit associate. Pursuing the CPA credential through the Kentucky State Board of Accountancy signals commitment and gives candidates an edge when applying to larger operators who use Yardi or MRI, where familiarity can substitute for direct property accounting experience.
Where can I find and apply to senior property accountant jobs in Kentucky?
You can find and apply to senior property accountant jobs in Kentucky on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Kentucky employers. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your background and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
