Tips for Your Senior Sharepoint Developer Job Search
Tailor your resume for SPFx depth
Recruiters scanning for senior sharepoint developer candidates look past generic SharePoint experience. Call out specific SPFx version work, React-based web parts you've shipped, and whether your deployments used tenant-wide or site-level app catalogs. That detail separates you from mid-level applicants.
Highlight Power Platform integration experience
Many senior sharepoint developer openings now expect Power Automate and Power Apps fluency alongside core SharePoint skills. If you've built flows that connect SharePoint lists to external systems or embedded canvas apps in modern pages, make that visible in your resume's skills and project sections.
Filter openings by migration project scope
Roles vary widely between greenfield SharePoint Online builds and classic-to-modern migration projects. Read job descriptions carefully for phrases like 'on-premises to M365 migration' or 'SharePoint 2016 upgrade' so you're targeting projects that match your deepest experience rather than applying indiscriminately.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists senior sharepoint developer openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a technical portfolio before interviews
Senior-level interviews often include a whiteboard or take-home component around information architecture or governance design. Document two or three past projects with diagrams showing site hierarchy, permission models, and any custom solutions you architected, so you can reference concrete work during technical rounds.
Negotiate around M365 licensing scope
When evaluating an offer, ask whether the role operates on a full Microsoft 365 E3 or E5 tenant. Restricted licensing limits what you can build with Viva Connections, Syntex, or Copilot for SharePoint, which affects both your day-to-day impact and the skills you'll add to your profile over time.
Senior Sharepoint Developer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most senior sharepoint developers?
The most active employers for senior sharepoint developers right now are General Dynamics Information Technology, MTSI, and ValidaTek, and the most openings are in Virginia, Texas, and Pennsylvania, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Government contractors and large financial institutions tend to maintain consistent demand for senior sharepoint developer talent year-round.
How many senior sharepoint developer jobs are remote?
About 23% of senior sharepoint developer openings are fully remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broad employer acceptance of distributed work for this role. SharePoint Online administration, SPFx development, and Power Platform integration work are the sub-specializations most commonly offered with fully remote arrangements.
How do you become a senior sharepoint developer?
You typically start by building hands-on SharePoint development experience in a junior or mid-level role, focusing on SPFx, PowerShell scripting, and site provisioning. From there, taking on information architecture projects and leading migration initiatives signals readiness for senior responsibilities. Earning Microsoft certifications in the M365 ecosystem strengthens your candidacy, as does building a portfolio of documented custom solutions.
Can you get hired as a senior sharepoint developer without direct senior-level experience?
Some employers will consider strong mid-level candidates who have led end-to-end SharePoint projects, even without a formal senior title. Your best approach is to demonstrate ownership: show architectural decisions you made, governance frameworks you designed, and migrations you drove from kickoff to cutover. Roles at smaller organizations or government contractors often value demonstrated scope over title history.
What does the senior sharepoint developer interview process look like?
The process typically starts with a recruiter screen focused on your SharePoint background and project scope. A technical round follows, often covering SPFx architecture, REST and Graph API usage, and permission modeling scenarios. Many employers add a practical component where you diagram an information architecture or walk through a past migration. A final round with a hiring manager or solutions architect usually covers governance strategy and stakeholder communication.
Where can I find and apply to senior sharepoint developer jobs?
You can find and apply to senior sharepoint developer jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your skills and experience, then apply directly to each one that fits.
