Senior Solutions Engineer Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior solutions engineer in Michigan?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, followed by several years in a technical presales or solutions architect role. Michigan does not require a state-issued license for this position. Large Michigan employers in automotive technology and enterprise software typically promote from within their solutions engineer or technical sales pipelines, so starting in a customer-facing technical support or associate solutions role with one of those employers is a realistic on-ramp.
How much do senior solutions engineers make in Michigan?
Senior solutions engineers in Michigan earn a median of about $114,180 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $75,330 for the lowest 10% to over $194,980 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior solutions engineers in Michigan?
Employers hiring senior solutions engineers in Michigan right now include PwC, Molex, and Fastly, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Michigan's strong concentration of automotive OEMs, technology services firms, and regional cloud infrastructure providers means hiring is distributed across Detroit Metro, Grand Rapids, and Ann Arbor rather than concentrated in a single corridor.
Which Michigan cities have the most senior solutions engineer jobs?
Detroit, Troy, and Rochester Hills account for the largest share of senior solutions engineer openings in Michigan. Detroit Metro dominates because of its dense base of automotive technology companies, enterprise software vendors, and managed services providers, while Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor draw openings through their growing technology and life sciences sectors along with the anchor employers and research institutions based there.
Are there remote senior solutions engineer jobs in Michigan?
Yes, and more than most fields. Solutions engineering is a predominantly desk-based, client-facing discipline that translates well to remote work. About 50% of senior solutions engineer openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the role's heavy reliance on video demos, cloud platform work, and digital collaboration. The portions most likely to remain on-site are initial client discovery sessions and enterprise implementation kick-offs.
How can I get hired as a senior solutions engineer in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior solutions engineer or technical sales engineer role at a Michigan-based technology services firm or automotive software vendor. Companies such as General Motors and Ford regularly hire associate-level technical roles that feed into their solutions engineering tracks. A cloud certification from AWS or Azure, combined with demonstrated experience in customer-facing technical support or systems administration, gives candidates a meaningful edge when applying without direct presales experience.
Where can I find and apply to senior solutions engineer jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to senior solutions engineer jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current Michigan openings across Detroit Metro, Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, and beyond. Search the listings to find roles that match your background and apply directly to the ones that fit.
