Senior UX UI Designer Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior ux ui designer in Massachusetts?
Becoming a senior ux ui designer in Massachusetts requires a combination of formal education and demonstrated product experience. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field, though strong portfolios from bootcamp graduates are widely accepted in the Boston tech and healthcare markets. Progression to senior level typically comes after several years leading projects end-to-end, mentoring junior designers, and owning design decisions within a cross-functional team. No state-issued license is required.
How much do senior UX UI designers make in Massachusetts?
Senior UX UI designers in Massachusetts earn a median of about $113,540 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $71,110 for the lowest 10% to over $178,050 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior ux ui designers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring senior ux ui designers in Massachusetts right now include SharkNinja, athenahealth, and Photon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's deep concentration of healthcare technology, financial services, and enterprise software companies means senior designer roles here often involve complex, data-heavy product environments rather than consumer-facing apps.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most senior ux ui designer jobs?
The cities with the most senior ux ui designer openings in Massachusetts are Boston, Needham, and Natick. Boston and Cambridge dominate because of the region's dense cluster of technology companies, academic medical centers, and financial services firms, while suburban Route 128 corridor locations like Waltham and Burlington generate consistent openings through mid-size software and life sciences employers that maintain large in-house product teams.
Are there remote senior ux ui designer jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 100% of senior ux ui designer openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the core work of the role, which centers on Figma collaboration, async research synthesis, and video-based stakeholder reviews, transfers to distributed settings. Discovery and workshop phases are the parts most likely to require occasional on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a senior ux ui designer in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an associate or junior product designer role at a Massachusetts technology company or healthcare system, where structured mentorship exists and growth tracks are defined. Boston-area employers like Wayfair and several health-tech startups around the Longwood Medical Area regularly hire designers out of local programs. Adjacent roles such as UX researcher, visual designer, or front-end developer are common lateral moves, and a portfolio with at least two case studies showing your design process will carry more weight than credentials alone.
Where can I find and apply to senior ux ui designer jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to senior ux ui designer jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current Massachusetts openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
