Their mission is to deliver a professional-grade platform that combines the power of institutional trading tools with Robinhood's signature approachable design.
As a Senior Web Engineer, performance is your mandate. You'll set the standard for what a web-based trading platform can be — going deep on JavaScript internals, browser rendering pipelines, and real-time data optimization to make Legend the fastest, most responsive platform of its kind. For active traders, milliseconds matter, and you'll own the work that ensures Legend never gets in their way. This is a performance-first role. You'll lead the initiatives that make Legend faster and more efficient, while also contributing to feature development across core trading surfaces where your performance expertise has the greatest impact. The work balances deep technical execution with meaningful cross-functional partnership.

- Go deep on JavaScript internals, browser rendering pipelines, and real-time data handling to deliver a best-in-class experience for active traders
- Build and optimize high-frequency, real-time UI components that handle streaming market data without compromising frame rate or user experience
- Establish performance benchmarks and monitoring systems that create a repeatable, lasting standard for the team
- Drive a performance-first culture through code reviews, technical documentation, and engineering standards
- Contribute to end-to-end feature development across Legend's core trading surfaces, applying your performance expertise where it matters most
- Partner with product, design, and backend engineers to deliver polished, reliable experiences at scale
- Participate in roadmap planning and help scope technical work, balancing feature delivery with ongoing platform health
WHAT YOU BRING
- 5+ years of experience in web development with a focus on infrastructure, tooling, or platform engineering.
- Strong programming skills in JavaScript, TypeScript, and at least one other language.
- Experience working on or closely with frontend infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, build systems, or internal tools.
- Demonstrated ability to reduce developer friction and increase engineering productivity through technical solutions.
- Comfortable working in complex developer ecosystems with hundreds of developers as stakeholders (experience with Bazel or similar build tools is a plus).
- A mindset for building meta-level systems and tools that make other engineers more effective.

Senior Web Engineer Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior web engineer in New York?
Becoming a senior web engineer in New York follows a skills-and-experience path rather than a state licensing requirement, as the role carries no New York-specific license or registration. Most engineers reach the senior level after several years of building production web systems, contributing to architecture decisions, and mentoring others. New York employers, particularly in finance and media, place particular weight on experience with high-traffic, distributed systems and a portfolio of shipped products.
How much do senior web engineers make in New York?
Senior web engineers in New York earn a median of about $98,580 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $32,510 for the lowest 10% to over $185,610 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior web engineers in New York?
Employers hiring senior web engineers in New York right now include Amazon Web Services, Adobe, and Cohere, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's dense concentration of fintech firms, major media companies, and large retail and e-commerce operations means hiring remains active across a wide range of industries beyond pure technology.
Which New York cities have the most senior web engineer jobs?
The cities with the most senior web engineer openings in New York are New York and Manhattan. New York City dominates because of its concentration of financial services headquarters, media conglomerates, and venture-backed startups, while secondary markets like Buffalo and Albany are driven largely by state government technology modernization projects and regional university-affiliated research and development teams.
Are there remote senior web engineer jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. Web engineering is among the most remote-compatible roles in the technology sector, and about 14% of senior web engineer openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. The work that tends to stay fully remote covers front-end and full-stack product development, while roles requiring close collaboration with on-site infrastructure or trading systems more often require in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a senior web engineer in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing an associate or junior web developer role at a New York employer and building toward senior-level scope over time. Large New York-based employers in finance and media, including those with formal rotational technology programs, often hire new graduates into engineering associate tracks. Building a portfolio of deployed projects, contributing to open-source work, and earning a cloud certification from AWS or Google strengthens a candidate's profile significantly when direct experience is limited.
Where can I find and apply to senior web engineer jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to senior web engineer jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the New York market. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your experience and preferred work arrangement, and apply directly to the positions that fit.
