Service Technician Jobs in Minneapolis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a service technician job in Minneapolis?
Focus your search on Minneapolis's strongest hiring sectors: HVAC and building systems, medical and diagnostic equipment, and commercial food service equipment. The Northeast industrial corridor, Midway business district, and suburban office parks in Plymouth and Eden Prairie concentrate the most openings. Candidates who hold EPA 608 certification or manufacturer-specific credentials stand out here, and familiarity with preventive maintenance software gives you a real edge with the region's larger facility management employers.
Which companies hire service technicians in Minneapolis?
Employers hiring service technicians in Minneapolis right now include BRAVAS | Home Experience Design, Veterans Prime, and Weidner Apartment Homes, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Minneapolis draws a mix of national service contractors with regional dispatch hubs and locally headquartered manufacturers and healthcare systems that maintain large in-house technician teams.
Are there remote service technician jobs in Minneapolis?
Yes, but remote work is limited for most service technician roles since the work is inherently hands-on and site-based. About 21% of service technician openings tied to Minneapolis are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to be in technical support, remote diagnostics, or field service coordination rather than direct repair work.
How can I get a service technician job in Minneapolis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Minneapolis is through apprenticeship or helper roles with HVAC and mechanical contractors, many of which partner with Dunwoody College of Technology and Hennepin Technical College for structured on-the-job training. Large facility management firms and hospital systems in the city regularly hire entry-level maintenance associates who cross-train into specialized technician roles. A clean driving record and willingness to work rotating or on-call shifts dramatically improves your chances with local service contractors.
Which industries hire the most service technicians in Minneapolis?
The sectors hiring the most service technicians in Minneapolis are Manufacturing, Technology & Software, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026.
