Georgia Pacific is seeking a Lead Software Engineer-AI to join our team! This hands-on technical leadership role is responsible for designing, building, and operating AI-powered applications, primarily computer vision solutions, that are deployed across more than 100 manufacturing facilities and directly support critical operational outcomes. The successful applicant will have excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and organizational skills and will report to our CV Senior IT Delivery Manager.

The role works closely with data scientists, product partners, and manufacturing teams to deliver scalable, real-world AI solutions.
What You Will Do
- Lead the development, deployment, and operation of AI applications that support manufacturing operations across more than 100 facilities
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for cloud and edge-based AI solutions, deployed in Kubernetes/EKS environments
- Partner with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to deliver new AI products and enhance existing capabilities
- Develop high-quality, production-ready code using modern AI, data, and analytics technologies
- Mentor and coach engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on technical leadership
- Drive continuous improvement by addressing technical debt and establishing best practices for system design, reliability, performance, and scalability
- Invest in continuous learning while fostering the technical growth and development of the team
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- 6+ years of software engineering experience building and operating distributed systems, including technical design and delivery responsibilities
- Experience leading technical design, architecture decisions, or software delivery teams
- Experience developing, deploying, or supporting machine learning, computer vision, AI, or data-driven applications
- Professional experience in Python, SQL, Docker, and Bash scripting
- Experience building and deploying containerized applications using Kubernetes (EKS) and/or AWS ECS
- Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, and IAM
- Experience with data streaming technologies such as Kafka, NATS, MQTT, or similar platforms
- Experience using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and Helm
- Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and system design

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
