Solutions Architect Manager Jobs in North Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a solutions architect manager in North Carolina?
The most direct path is building several years of hands-on solutions architecture experience before moving into a management role. North Carolina has no state-issued license for this position, so hiring decisions turn on demonstrated technical depth, vendor certifications such as AWS or Microsoft Azure credentials, and a record of leading technical teams. Many candidates move up through large enterprises in the Charlotte financial services corridor or the Research Triangle's technology sector, often starting as senior architects before taking on team leadership.
How much do solutions architect managers make in North Carolina?
Solutions architect managers in North Carolina earn a median of about $127,320 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $79,120 for the lowest 10% to over $173,410 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire solutions architect managers in North Carolina?
Employers hiring solutions architect managers in North Carolina right now include Lenovo, Humana, and Coca-Cola Consolidated, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. North Carolina's mix of major financial institutions in Charlotte, technology headquarters in the Research Triangle, and a growing defense and government IT sector in the Raleigh-Durham area means openings appear across a wide range of industries year-round.
Which North Carolina cities have the most solutions architect manager jobs?
Charlotte, Raleigh, and Morrisville account for the largest share of solutions architect manager openings in North Carolina. Charlotte's concentration of major banks and fintech companies drives the bulk of demand there, while Raleigh and Durham benefit from the Research Triangle's dense cluster of technology firms, university-affiliated research institutions, and state government IT agencies that regularly require experienced architecture leadership.
Are there remote solutions architect manager jobs in North Carolina?
Yes, and more than most fields, since solutions architect managers spend the majority of their time in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and team oversight that translates well to remote work. About 59% of solutions architect manager openings tied to North Carolina are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting broader technology sector flexibility. The portions of the role most commonly performed remotely are architecture reviews, vendor evaluations, and cross-functional leadership meetings.
How can I get hired as a solutions architect manager in North Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a solutions architect manager role from a senior individual-contributor position in solutions architecture, cloud engineering, or technical presales. Large North Carolina employers in the Research Triangle and Charlotte, including technology companies and major financial institutions, regularly hire senior architects who can demonstrate team mentorship experience and client-facing leadership. Building AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud certifications and contributing to architecture governance committees are the credentials that most consistently open the door to a first management title.
