Sourcing Jobs in San Diego: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a sourcing job in San Diego?
The strongest path into sourcing in San Diego is targeting the city's dominant industries: defense and aerospace contractors in Kearny Mesa, biotech and life sciences firms in Torrey Pines and Sorrento Valley, and technology companies clustered along the I-15 corridor. Candidates with experience in regulated supply chains, government procurement, or biomedical components stand out locally. Networking through San Diego's manufacturing and life sciences professional communities also opens doors that job boards alone won't.
Which companies hire sourcings in San Diego?
Companies currently hiring sourcings in San Diego include Anduril, Amazon, and Acadia Pharmaceuticals, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. San Diego's employer mix skews toward defense primes, contract manufacturers, biotech firms, and large healthcare systems, all of which maintain dedicated sourcing functions.
Are there remote sourcing jobs in San Diego?
Yes, though sourcing roles vary widely: strategic and indirect sourcing positions are frequently remote, while direct materials and manufacturing sourcing typically requires on-site work. About 43% of sourcing openings tied to San Diego are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting strong demand from the city's technology and services sectors. Life sciences and defense sourcing roles tend to require the most in-person presence locally.
How can I get a sourcing job in San Diego with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Diego is landing a purchasing coordinator or procurement assistant role with one of the city's large healthcare systems, defense contractors, or contract electronics manufacturers, all of which hire at the junior level. Familiarity with ERP systems and basic vendor communication skills are the most valued starting qualifications. Some candidates also move laterally from supply chain analyst or inventory roles within the same San Diego employer before stepping into dedicated sourcing work.
Which industries hire the most sourcings in San Diego?
Most sourcing openings in San Diego sit in Animal Care & Pet Services, Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, and Retail, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. San Diego's strong base of defense primes, biotech and medical device companies, and contract manufacturers creates sustained demand for sourcing professionals across both direct and indirect categories.
