Business Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business manager in California?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in business administration, management, finance, or a related field, followed by progressive operations or supervisory experience. California does not require a state-issued license specifically for the business manager title, but roles in regulated industries such as healthcare or financial services may require a California-specific credential from the relevant licensing board. An MBA strengthens candidacy for senior roles at large California employers.
Which companies hire business managers in California?
Employers hiring business managers in California right now include Amazon, Apple, and TikTok, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and major hospital systems means consistent year-round demand across both corporate and regional management roles.
Which California cities have the most business manager jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Jose have the most business manager openings in California. Los Angeles and the surrounding metro attract the highest volume because of its entertainment, healthcare, and consumer goods sectors, while San Francisco and San Jose are driven by large technology and financial services employers, and San Diego draws openings from its biotech and defense industries.
Are there remote business manager jobs in California?
Yes, though they are less common than in purely analytical roles because business managers frequently oversee on-site teams and day-to-day operations. About 23% of business manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements more common than fully remote. Strategic planning, reporting, and vendor management duties are the functions most likely to be performed off-site.
How can I get hired as a business manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for operations coordinator, business analyst, or department supervisor roles at large California employers, then building toward a management title internally. Kaiser Permanente, county government agencies, and UC system campuses all run structured management development or associate programs that hire without prior management experience. A project management certificate or familiarity with California employment compliance requirements gives candidates a meaningful edge in initial screening.
Where can I find and apply to business manager jobs in California?
You can find and apply to business manager jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from California employers. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level, industry, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
